Konami wants to focus on mobile games as well now, right, instead of console entries... that would actually make a pretty fun Castlevania related game for mobile phones.

But it's mobile gaming!  Sorry, but I can't stand gaming on a phone.  I'd want this at at least DS level, preferrably full console.

I was listening to Jorge's remixes on Youtube (specifically "Praying Hands" which is one of Castlevania's finest tunes) just now, and it got me thinking of how amazing a full 3D remake of Belmont's Revenge would be if done right.

A retuned and fully updated remake of Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness would be amazing as well, but my absolute dream project would unquestionably be a properly finished version of Castlevania: Resurrection, with maybe a bonus ReBirth style remake of Legends on the side.

I've always thought that the non-canon Castlevanias could be easily linked together into their own separate timeline too, and that they'd be a perfect direction for Castlevania to move back into for a reboot: still dark, still gothic, but with a pronounced and campy silliness about them (the same games that had the much laughed at Motorcycle Skeletons also had Actrise as a villain, and she was as evil and sinister a villain as the series has ever seen). I suppose that's why I keep holding on to some vain hope that we'll see more from those entries, as they are absolutely what Castlevania is to me.

But what is your dream Castlevania project? Figure, if you knew for a fact you were going to get one more, and ONLY one more, game in the franchise... what would it be?

If Castlevania is a creature of chaos then why can't canon and non canon titles work as multiverse compliments of one another? They all exist inside of the vampires lair.

That would be an interesting idea.

I've got this mental image of Chaos being sort of an infection branching out across the multiverse, and then when it reaches a new universe, a version of Dracula rises there, and a Belmont (or suitable analogue) appears as sort of an antibody response to the infection, and if you enter into Chaos' lair, all of the infected universes are suddenly all true in that one place -- the one place where Trevorcard might meet Nathan Graves and Julius Belmont.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

That's when the whores come in. Whores running around, doing their little behind-shake for the men folk...

I like her idea.

Oops sorry I could help but quote Tommy Boy there. It seemed like a nice follow up to where you were going.
But in all seriousness you're thinking, I like it. Maybe as your scenario plays out in another wing of the castle Trevor Belmont and Adrian Tsepes meet the amalgamated Trevorcard as another possiblity perhaps in the Mirror's reflection. Or maybe in this universe Richter Belmont saves the ToyMaker from Walter Bernard before he is ensnared and forced to give his heart away thus altering or preventing the events of LOS. Gabriel Belmont (who I liked playing as) meets his future self or the Matthias incarnation of Dracula.

Aww yiss.  This could mean that we could have a crossover of all the Simon Belmonts. 8)

There was a Doctor Who novel where the Eighth Doctor gazes into just such a mirror and sees all the non canon versions of the Ninth Doctor (like from Scream of the Shalka and the parody special Curse of Fatal Death) as possible futures for himself, and he's further implied to see every. noncanon. Doctor. that takes place after his regeneration (from all of the BBC's and Big Finish's "what-if" novels and audio dramas).

Of course he regenerates into John Hurt and then Christopher Eccleston.

But it was a great scene, and it would be cool to see Castlevania pull something similar. Maybe Dracula gazes into the mirror instead and sees all the different ways his life could have gone and might still go based on his choices. That makes more sense for a "Dracula redeems himself" plotline than Lords 2's attempt.

Dracula turns from the mirror, and there's Alucard:

Quote
"What did you see, father?"

"Despair. So much despair. But in one thread, I saw hope."

"Is not that hope worth chasing?"

Never mind my super awesome theory as to why Dracula didn't ever redeem himself even after Alucard tells him Lisa's last words; but that's a whole different thread.

(Long time no visiting the forums. The Internet filter at work doesn't help that much :P )

I dunno if anyone mention this project, but I am expecting a Dracula's Curse Chronicles game, like the Dracula X Chronicles one. I mean, a Dracula's Curse remaster (2D sprites and arranged music) with the classic  game as an unlockeable :D .

My favorite company to do such work would be WayForward or Arc System Works, even Inti Creates.

I wouldn't call this my dream project, but since we're throwing ideas around, I might as well post this here.

So, we already have a Dracula origin story. Sort of. However, I think LoI only tells us the beginning of that story: how Mathias became a vampire. The epilogue then quickly catches up with the situation shortly before 1476 with Mathias calling himself Maou and Dracula (in the Japanese version). What I had in mind was a game which depicts the transition from Mathias to Vlad Tepes and finally Dracula. This has been proposed a lot of times already but I have a slightly different take on things, so hear me out.

First a quick clarification, I'm going with the story that Msthias doesn't become the Dark Lord until after Lisa's death (which has been stated before in a source) as well the idea that he doesn't take on the name "Devil" (Dracula) until that time as well (which isn't quite canon but feels like the most appropriate time to me).

But how would such a story work? I don't playing as the villain would be fun and appropriate for a Castlevania game at all. Lords of Shadow did it but that story is really awful. So I would propose something that would probably get some protest at first: make Dracula the legitimate hero of the story. You would root for him in the same way you would as for any other protagonist in the series.

But then say: "That wouldn't work at all because in LoI Mathias renounced God and became a vampire". Which is a fair point, but in the Encyclopedia of Castlevania it does say "Dracula once more regained his human heart" after he fell in love with Lisa. So I would use that as my justification for why it would OK to consider Dracula the good guy. Not necessarily that he is a goody two-shoes, but more like a slightly more roughed version of Alucard, who has something legitimately terrible in his past, but with still a chance of redeeming himself.

What I think would be interesting to explore would be how Dracula 1) obtained his castle 2) became a Count and 3) became "the protector of the land". My idea for the setting of the game would Wallachia roughly in the 1440s or 1450s  starring "Vlad Tepes" (perhaps just Vlad) and Lisa, before they married and had Alucard. Also, I imagine Dracula appears young in this game because pretty much all protagonist in the series appear that way. He probably wouldn't dress like his traditional self yet, so he would look more like Alucard, I guess?

As for the conflict/antagonist, as I mentioned before, Dracula wouldn't be the Dark Lord yet, so that would be someone else (I'll leave the identity to the imagination). I don't think it would be a good idea to make this character a large scale treat because that kind of undermines what Dracula eventually does, so more like Walter.

Let's say this character is causing some trouble locally. The Belmonts aren't around because they are exiled. Vlad Tepes is requested to take this character down. But by who and what would be his motivation be for doing this? I think my "Akumajo Lisa" idea works well. Lisa is the local Countess and last descendant of a knight family which was originally tasked with defending the land, but has recently fallen in decline. So she tries recruiting other knights who could take on this local treat. Since Vlad Tepes was a knight and brilliant tactician in his former life, it would make sense for him character-wise to be recruited. His motivation for helping would be because Lisa is the spitting image of his former wife.

Then the game proper begins. Perhaps the villain ends up taking over Lisa's castle in the story and turns it into the Demon Castle we all know, so it would still be like a regular Castlevania game. Vlad fights only with dark-aligned equipment. I think the "Demon recruitment" system I mentioned before would work very well in a setting like this.

The epilogue would be Vlad and Lisa marrying, him inhereting the castle and title of Count, and with the birth of Alucard.

But it's mobile gaming!  Sorry, but I can't stand gaming on a phone.  I'd want this at at least DS level, preferrably full console.

I feel ya man. Even if its a great game, I have control problems on touch, plus covering the screen is annoying af. Even games with great controls on mobile are cumbersome to play. If Konami could make it on PC and mobile, I think it'd be decent (played a demo of an indie game on android, unplayable at parts cus I couldn't react fast enough, played the PC demo -same exact game- but it was so much more enjoyable and playable on keyboard).

Speaking of ArcSys, I would've liked to see them do a Castlevania fighting game.

Ok, aside from 1999...

-A remake of Legends. Sonia is just too badass.
-A game about Alucard's first confrontation with his father. He got his ass kicked BTW and was locked up for being a bad, bad son.
-A distant post-apocalyptic-steampunkish future where no one remembers Dracula but the castle rises and Alucard appears to help the female lead who's a descendant of the Belmont Clan and she doesn't flash huge boobs and is super lame at first at the whole vampire hunting business, but eventually learns to whip it (lol) and defeats Dracula, and there are no romantic feelings between her and Alucard thank you, they remain friends.
-The story of the greatest hero of all times, and how in secret he has always helped the Belmont Clan destroy Dracula. All Hail Pumpkin. LMAO Come on, it would be fun as hell to play.
-Mathias' quest to acquire more power after absorbing Walter's soul. I LOVE stories where the lead is actually the bad guy and I want to see more sexy Mat before his looks go to waste  :-*
-A fighting game where Simon doesn't look like Light Yagami and Eric Lecarde doesn't look so shota

And I fully support the Chibivanias. Those... those sound amazing.
