IGA already mentioned in the Nintendo Power interview, that against his better judgment the team still makes the games as easy as possible to dispel the notion that Castlevania is a tough series.

Odd, given it hasn't been remotely difficult since 1990. Still, the collective BAAAAAWing from magazine reviewers and SotN-humpers alike at having to deal with Rondo's EXCRUCIATING challenge probably just reinforces that notion.

You know, that's true. The press kept sneaking in complaints about how hard DXC was. It is hard, but it's also fun because of it. It's much more rewarding to finally best a boss or solve a tough secret.

the fact that she goes after him doesn't mean he'll become a hypocrite and give up on his beliefs he kept for over 300 years, just for the hell of it. :o

Maybe, though. Love, like an intoxicating liquor, can make a man do what he never thought he'd do otherwise, whether he's lived for 30 years or 300.

yeah, but then again, what sotn showed was one sided love. alucard didn't seem to care for either maria or richter, and just went back home once his job was done. :o

I still think they compromised. :P

About the difficulty.. I don't think IGA wants to lose part of the fanbase by making things too hard. It's also difficult for him to know both the needs of the older generation CV fans and the younger generation and accommodate all of them.

You know, that's true. The press kept sneaking in complaints about how hard DXC was. It is hard, but it's also fun because of it. It's much more rewarding to finally best a boss or solve a tough secret.
That is, if some recent fans actually have the patience or the skill to best the boss rather than just put the game down.

Now, before anyone bites my head off, know that I am in favor of decent difficulty. Still, I love DXC because it's fun, even though due to sheer lack of skill I'm still stuck at Stage 7, the Clock Tower. Sadly, there are fans who never make it past stage2 (they gave up) because they are used to the difficulty of SotN and the Metroidvanias.

Like suggested before, there should be different difficulty levels to accommodate everyone. AKA Hard mode with more than just artificial difficulty, available from the beginning. Fans like me will go for Normal first, but fans of the older games who prefer it more difficult would go for Hard first. Little kids might go for Easy first. That's my suggestion.

Yeah, but Alucard wasn't exactly the type to show his emotions to begin with. You never know. :P

the ease of sotn/hod and other 2d igavanias is what should be an easy mode. normal should be already tough as nails, and hard should be out to get you at each step. :P

lots of new, more dangerous enemies as well as the old ones boosted beyond "200 damage per hit", more environmental dangers etc. for example, it should be possible to get a true 100% completion only on hard mode, since easy/normal would be lacking certain enemies and weapons they drop.

What i would really like to see on a new Castlevania game is something from Vagrant Story. In Vagrant to obtain 100% you were having to finish the game and played it again so that you'll be able to enter previous areas that they were loked with a marke sign called the Blood rode.

Wouldn't be great for this future to be included on a future Castlevania game where you'll have to finish the game first so that you'll be able to access new areas with harder enemies and bosses, new items, new skills, 100% completition and even new endings!!

For even better experience, they could make it that you'll have to get a certain ending so that you'll be able to obtain the skill for reaching the new areas!! What are you thinking of this guys?

Rondo already did something similar with the fact that you can't fight all the bosses and thus find all the stages the first time through.

And yes that's one of the highlights of Rondo of Blood.

Yes, but this is totally different, because in Rondo you are able to go on every stage, since it depends on which path you'll follow, so it is different from what i'm saying, because what i'm saying is that if you don't finish the game with a certain ending so that you'll get that special item, you want be able to reach the new areas, even if you have beaten the game!!!

you can't reach the level 5' - secret docks on your first playthrough. it's unlocked after you beat dracula.
