I like the addition of a female character, as long as she isn't as useless as Charlotte.

Sometimes? SotN, AoS, DoS, CoD, PoR, Order of Ecclesia.
and those plus Hod and Bloodlines would've fit fine as side stories. not cotm/64 type "side stories", they'd be still canon, but a side thing that would focus on smaller things, outside of the main plotline.

example, sotn. it strays from the 1000 years old battle of belmonts vs dracula which was castlevania's main motif until bloodlines to show another, much smaller and more personal side of the conflict, where his own son goes to kill him.

another example, hod. it only focuses on juste's friends getting in trouble.

etc.

so yeah, side story material. :o

What if this game drops the bomb that it never had anything to do with humankind's souls or even the thirst for blood? What if the key to Drac's power is revealed to have always been in- -..... the CHOCOLATE? Would it be a side story then to discover the shocking truth, and have to face the full-on power of- -. . . . . wait for it... -THE ECCLAIRES!![/i]

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

yep.

in my mind, anything that doesn't focus on the series's main plotline of the main branch of the belmont family's struggle against drac and his lackeys with a true belmont as the central protagonist is a side story.

You gotta admit though, some of those side quests have been mighty entertaining. Even the ones Igarashi-sama is in denial about.

As much as I find her annoying, I didn't find Charlotte useless. She was great for giving the team stat boosts and her magic was necessary to reach later areas. Well, we'll just say she's no more useless that Jonathan was.

Don't get me wrong, I liked her magic attacks, I just hated how weak they made her. I want to see a female protagonist who can take more than five hits without having to run for the nearest save room.
Agreed about the blushing of Jonathan and Charlotte. Though for some reason, it annoyed me slightly less than Yoko and Hammer flirting like Middle Schoolers in Dawn of Sorrow through Soma; they might as well of had them passing notes. Of course, the lameness of the modern 'Vanias writing has had me spamming the 'A' button like mad in every dialogue scene since CoTM.

I didn't have a prob with that at all. It showed a neat side to Hammer you wouldn't expect. It was kinda cute and didn't manage to distract from the story. But Charlotte and Jonathan, and both being main protagonists ... just too obvious for me.

Plus both Hammer and Yoko way cooler than the wonder twins.

Main series: LoI, Legends(non IGA), CV3, Adventure, Belmont's Revenge, CV1, CV2, HoD, RoB, 1999(whenever it happens).

Side Stories: CoD, SotN, OoE, Stoker's Dracula event, Bloodlines, PoR, AoS, DoS.

IGA hints at Judgment's existence in the interview, but he says to wait a couple weeks/months for it's official announcement.

Sounds like we may have to wait for E3 in July for Judgment news then. Hopefully they'll drop some video footage from Ecclesia soon. I want to see if they've improved the character animations, though from the pics it looks like Shanoa has pretty close to Jonathan's basic whip and Soma's basic sword wielding animations. I'd be happy if they just got the running animation right--to my mind they really haven't done a good one since Alucard.

Agreed.

As for the news of this game, I'm personally 50/50.  I haven't seen a thing that makes me think the game is "OMFG gonna sux! lolz!" or that it's going to be greatest either.  I'm interested in the title and it seems to have a lot of things going for it, if done right.

And meh, don't care about the reused sprites or if the main character isn't a Belmont.  I understand the disagreement about one, too many people/families being able to defeat Dracula though I'll admit, it doesn't really bother me, as long as it's explained properly and done right.  And for this game, the reason behind sounds like it might be interesting.  Apparently Ritcher is gone and the Belmonts are no where to be fond.  I hope this game explains what exactly has happened to them.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

From the question the interviewer asked concerning the game's length, IGA's response made is sound like it was of "normal castlevania length.

I really wish the CV games could become longer while still maintaining quality throughout.

Soma

normal length would be really long and I'm thinking Iga was referring to Sotn or his other games when he said that, especially if they go really oldschool this time around and make it tough as nails.

Calm down Thomas.  I LOVE the Belmonts, but it's ok to step away from them sometimes, it adds a lot more depth to the series.

And antrax, though Iga is no shakespeare he is not terrible.  And this non-Belmont move in no way negates his credit as a writer.  Now, the cheesy dialogue in dos and por... that is another story entirely.

She might be a Belmont, nobody's had a chance to play the game yet, who knows I think it would be awesome if she was like a hybrid of a belmont and a fernandez or  something.
