Hey, it was probably his idea to add those arrows. You never know. I just think it distracts from the flow of the game.

...or maybe one of the programmers. Or most likely the title's director.

As producer, the only thing IGA does is write the scenarios, market the game, and flash grins for the camera.

mathias did grow in power with his crimson stone though. it'd be possible that at one point he was going around the europe, killing other vampires, absorbing their souls for power and forcing others like olrox or carmilla into life of servitude for him.

Pardon me for quoting an old post, but this sounds like a pretty cool idea. Orlox was kind of modeled after the vampire from the old Nosferatu movie, after all, so it'd be cool to see how he and Dracula met up in the Castlevania universe. Maybe in another game or something? :O

It is CLEARLY stated in the original manual for Cv3, or Cv1 not sure which one at the moment, that Dracula went from powerful vampire to anti-god by making a pact with an extremely powerful demon (probably chaos).  He gave it his soul, and half of his son's.

I honestly like what I see so far.  I like the soundtrack, the forest outside the monastery was beautiful (makes me wonder if  the rest of the new areas will like as nice), and even though the guy sucked, the gameplay looks solid.  I hope it's at conference this year like DXC was last year, I'd love to play it.  (Unless it actually *does* come out in August in Japan, then I'll just import it...)

Hell, I like what I see.  I wish the guy wasn't talking through the trailer so I could try to rip the music from it.  The forest looked beautiful and yeah, looks like the inside is more generic, but I doubt serious it will bother me.  I love the banshee enemy, it's pretty nice.  I like the return of Mr. Hed but damn, the guy playing sucks ass.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

There are some beautiful scenes in this vid. And the 3D effects honestly look like they're put to good use.

Also, did I just hear a bit of "The Pinnacle" remixed into the monastery tune?  ;)

But otherwise... it kinda looks too easy.  :-\

The main sprite animation is fantastic and the Monastery entrance is brilliant, but the graphics flatter to decieve.

Indeed, the graphics and inner castle backrounds are too similar the Portrait of Ruin. It's gonna bother me immensely while playing it so much, that I'll be expecting my character to Charolette until I see a cut-scene or hear "NOW IS THE TIME OF YOUR DEMISE!" Personally, in that aspect anyway, I'm disappointed with the final product.

Also, yes, I agree, it does look terribly easy, and yes, that guy playing was absolutely awful! YOU CAN'T REACH THE STUPID TREASURE CHEST! GET OVER IT! However, think about it. It could be much easier considering skeletons took 4 hits to take out. Also, I like the idea of doing small quantities of damage. Shanoan was hitting 4's off of skeletons. That either says that the game IS being made more difficult, or at least not clearly easier, OR that guy just really sucks...badly.

I'm also disappointed with the fact that they're using the same save system as Portrait of Ruin. That's gonna bother me. I actually didn't even like it in PoR, but to use it AGAIN?! Ugh, I'm gonna hate that...

Sorry for the super long post, but...

Anyway, what do you guys think of the magnetic field glyph? I think it's a very good idea, though when I first saw it in the trailer, I automatically assumed that it would be activated and controlled by the touch screen instead of being used just like any normal glyph. It looks like that glyph is going to be used very often throughout the entire game. It would probably get really annoying quickly having to use the touch screen to launch your self from room to room, from platform to platform...So, I'm actually glad that they made it that way! ;D

At any rate, it's a brand new Castlevania game to add to the series, and I think I speak for everyone here when I say I can't wait to finally play it. Well, let's just hope I don't die of anticipation! Overall, I'm impressed with Konami's work and Iga's (I can't believe I just said that!) and I hope they continue to do this well in the future, depending on whether Order of Ecclesia actually IS any good or not, which I hope it is! ;D

"that old feel of romance and heroism"... Oo that's quite a superb discription of SuperCVIV, if I may say so.

Anyways, I think the game looks awsome, so far. IMO, there seems to be abit more platforming than in PoR, perhaps more similar to DoS, but we still have those huge gaping empty rooms (except for the enemies)... those really bring me down.

Maybe just maybe, the monastery was purposely designed like that and made easy for the bad players and the rest of the game has way better level design and is harder. I doubt it, but we can hope.

My thoughts:

The world map looks way too cartoony. It could have been epic, gothic, grand. Instead we have silly little icons representing different places or lands. It reminds me of "Legend of Mana"'s world map, though the cartoon look worked there.
The layout is lame, but this may be a demo build, just like early videos of PoR showed a stripped down, less populated City of Haze, with Dullahan appearing halfway through the level.
The forest looks nice. So did the forest at the beginning of PoR. Both of them last a whole one or two screens before you go inside, and everything suddenly looks a lot less inspired. I am not impressed.
The music is as bland and generic as it was in the first trailer. . . lame.
The new enemies we've seen so far look kind of cool. I like the Kayako/Samara (Grudge/Ring) look the banshee has when she first appears, with her hair drooped down into her face.
At first I thought the horse-heads were mewling, until I saw that there's a cat on the ground floor of the monastery. That yowling could get old really quick.
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?
