Wow, you described Nathan Graves and Circle of the Moon...sans the interesting boss rush. Of course, HoD did have variety, unlike "shelf shelf shelf shelf HALLWAY shelf shelf shelf." Sadly, it did lack its predeccessor's liberal use of all shades of green and the PoR-esque "difficulty"- enemies are stupid but with high HP, while you do little damage.

HoD was no more easy than SotN or AoS.

It was too long and drawn out, 1 castle would have sufficed instead of two identical ones.

The game wasn't long or drawn out, nor were the castle layers identical. The two castles only added to the plot, and added more puzzles. The game was awesome and had some great boss battles, making for my favorite boss rush mode. Playing as Maxim was fun too. How could you not like it?!

The two Castles were always confuzzling me the hell out. I never know where to go, never remember which Item was in which Castle. Even inverted Castle was cooler.

Castlevania is supposed to be confusing! Otherwise, it's too easy.

wait, what? I don't understand what you mean, it's the difficulty that makes most of them hard, gameplaywise they're pretty straightforward. That's the thing with the 2 castles though, they're unneeded. They should have just made one big one like in Sotn with the inverted and normal castles, you don't have to worry about going back and forth once you get to the inverted one. The only time you have to go back is when you need to buy stuff from the merchant.

Okay, I know that Castlevania isn't a puzzle game, but I personally thought the puzzles added to the difficulty and I really wish more Castlevania games had more puzzles and obstacles instead of just enemies. Take for example, in the clock tower, the rolling metal ball you have to race through that room through not only enemies, but also spikes and jumps. Hard, but rewarding.

I dunno, but was the inverted castle really needed? I think it's more like... something to increase playtime. They used the same musics all over, they stuffed it pointlessly with enemies and you don't really have to go anywhere, if you just head for Drac. Besides, the Castle isn't really designed for being inverted. You have to jump/fly/superjump so often that it gets really annoying.

Not to say that SOTN is a bad game. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Yeah but it's a fun romp, I agree though that just expanding the original castle would have been cooler.

Yes, as much as I really want to defend the idea of the inverted castle, it really just would've been better to just expand the same castle. :-\

I saw Nathan Graves mentioned so I must respond. He is the most badass looking of the people who got removed. Back to the topic at hand now.

My main problem with the inverted castle was how many times they re-used the same song. n_n

That said, though, what I really liked about the Inverted Castle was how it still...worked. You gotta give credit to the level designers of SoTN, it's not every day you see an area that's still fun to play through, albeit with lots of high jumpan and bat flyan, when it's turned upside down. :)

Yeah I'd love for legends and cotm to get added back into the cannon personally. I feel those were fun titles and were well done for the existing hardware. I'm hoping Iga can find it in his soul to put COTM back in. I know he ain't gonna put legends back in and hte only way this would happen is if he was replaced. It really wasn't necessary to straight up remove it, they really should have just rereleased a new version to replace the old one w/out alucard, with updated graphics like Cotm, and Dracula could explain to Sonia that this was only the beginning and that she didn't have the power to kill him.

Refuse to make the "Why Legends was Rightfully Pulled Out of Canon" argument but I do agree that I'd like if COTM could be tweaked in put back into canon, even though it does actually exist, just in an alternate universe type way. For Legends to be 'tweaked' it would have to be 'remade' storyline wise. :P

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

Because it did not fit into the timeline at all.  The team that made it completely disregarded the series storyline.  It was Castlevania in atmosphere and gameplay only.
I am Jerkofwonder.
