I'm not saying CotM doesn't have fuzz too, but HoD had way more, and AoS only did a little better.

:|

I'm not sure if you listened to those mp3s or not. The PCM channels HoD used have no fuzz to them; they're shrill, but not fuzzy in the least. I'll Sell At My Place, for example, has none to it. The only tracks that do are the opening and the arranged version of Successor of Fate at the end, which are both orchestrated. AoS has the least "fuzz" of any of the high-quality tracks, and the most diverse instrumentation.

Can't argue about the bass, though.

But yeah, I'm digging OoE's graphics. The bay area with the ghost ship looks amazing, as well as that Catacombs/Skeleton Cave area. The new sprites are helluva nifty, too.

There's something about the music that's not really clicking with me. What I'm guessing is a boss theme in the second trailer was great as well as the Ecclesia theme, but the rest...eh, I dunno. I know I didn't like DoS's music in its trailers, but the final product was a little better.

I'm not going to judge the clock tower on a single screenshot, but yeah. More like a clock...corridor.

Well it's not a screenshot, we see the clocktower in the video and it looks... boring.

Forgot about that one. D:

Yeah, the clock tower isn't shaping up to be anything spectacular. But these levels aren't usually a complete loss, since they tend to feature some the best music, Tower of Gears notwithstanding.

HoD definitely wasn't a mess. I admit that it could've been better (especially since it was being made at the same time as AoS) but it was still a fun game, with some of the best replay value I've ever seen in a video game. The music was okay. There wasn't anything too special about it, and it failed in comparison of the other two titles, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some people claim. Juste kind of annoyed me both in controls (especially floaty jumping) and sprite animation. I love the story and always looked forward to meetings with Maxim. I know the storyline was a small feature for this game, but it was kept simple and it was pretty good. Graphics were fine. They had more detail in them than CotM, and weren't bad at all.

Also, DEATH HAD DIALOGUE! :D

What would you possibly replay this game for? :P

Once the secret of the castle is revealed... it loses much of its purpose.

Maxim mode and figuring out all his combos a la Richter Belmont, and the not-so-obvious hard mode, no magic mode, and I think there's another one. And there's also Boss Rush, and Simon boss rush which was vindicated if only for the completion screen.

Not as exciting as, say, finding new areas or rooms, but eh.

I do still need to try out "no magic mode" and "simon mode". I just found out about those not too long ago.

The no magic thing could bring the dififculty up quite a bit.

I beat this game about five times per month. It's so addicting, and it's extremely easy in comparison to CotM. Too bad you can't play through the actual game as Simon.

CotM, I only have the patience to beat about once a month.

Wow. I don't play any of the CVs that much.

On that note I don't play any one game that often.

You also probably own a lot more Castlevania games than me. I have 9, and I've beaten all of them over and over again to keep myself occupied. I kind of lost Portrait of Ruin though... *sniff, sniff* so I guess I have 8 now... :'(

And while we are talking about HoD, here is another weird video.

When do you suppose we can expect a soundtrack to surface for OoE? I love the monastery theme-- it sounds like something out of Bloodlines. I keep replaying the gameplay vids there. Seriously, it's pathetic how much I love it.

Oh, and while HoD is on the table... how come we never got fully orchestrated versions of the songs? They did that for the other games, I think.

Tool assisted speed runs are weak.  :(
