This is a somewhat random thought.  What if there was a extra character who was a member of the Belnades clan.  Doesn't have to be a part of the main story of OoE, but that could be fun.

Before you say anything, you must remember that this was just a somewhat random idea that I had.

well, in just about every game, they always have the possibility of adding

a) a Belmont or their descendants
b) a Belnades or their descendant
c) Alucard (except between Dracula's Curse and SoTN)

Order of Shadows actually picked a descendant of another line though, that is, they referenced a character who was the descendant of Rinaldo.

so far, no Grant descendants except in fan games.

then in later games, they can always add a Lecarde (not sure if they're Belmont descendants or not or Alucard for that matter).

Why Alucard? Not only would it not make sense most of the time to add him, but he's only been an extra playable character in one game(not counting CV3).

Which character was that?

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

I think PoR having Richter and Maria was a bad move. It should've been Eric Lecarde as the secret character. It would've been more fitting, and I'd love to see him do his pole vault move again.

For OoE, it depends. Albus would be a cool character to have as an unlockable, but we don't really know where he stands. If he does prove to be a false villain(and Barlowe is the real culprit), playing through Albus's quest and having the ability to see events unfold through HIS eyes(fighting Shanoa as a boss) would be interesting. I actually would've wanted to see that in Curse of Darkness with Trevor(the boss battles where you encounter Trevor with Hector would be flipped around and you'd be Trevor fighting Hector instead of Trevor fighting Trevor, as well as a additional story about Trevor trying to be an end to the curse himself, with additional dialog between him and Julia, Saint Germain, Zead and Isaac).

As for the reason why the Belmonts can't wield the VK until 1999, it's either a subject that will be covered in OoE or the SotN Radio Drama. Though, seeing how both happen around the same period of time(after SotN, before 1897), I'm thinking there will be some connection(the Radio Drama will lead into the years prior to OoE, set it up as a prelude of sorts).

The descendant of Rinaldo who appears in Order of Shadows is the off-screen character Giovanni.  He is the one who tells the Belmont siblings the whereabouts of the Order of Shadow's hideout.  He also told the Belmont sisters about the magic gauntlet which "his ancestor gave to their ancestor".  They find this gauntlet in the order's possession and in turn give the gauntlet to Desmond, who can now use alchemy based spells.

I have to wonder about how Rinaldo could have had descendants, since his whole family was wiped out and his daughter turned into a vampire, and he was no spring chicken.  I wonder if somehow his daughter was purified after Walter was destroyed.  Would that work anyway considering how long ago she was turned the manner in which Walter was "killed"?  Maybe Rinaldo knew just what needed to be done after Walter was taken out of the picture.  Was she even still around at that point?

well, if they "wanted" to, they could always add him to just about every game.  the way the story's actually been written though, no.  for example, if they wanted him to fight alongside Christopher or Simon Belmont, they could have done it.  But we know from how the story is written that he was asleep between the events of Dracula's Curse and SoTN.  It's not so clear if he slept after the events of SoTN.  We know he intended to, but in the "best" ending, Maria goes after him and who knows what actually happened.  Well, the drama should clear that up.  The drama says that he did go to sleep, but my theory is that through dream manipulation the incubus Magnus caused him to act out what he thought were dreams and attack village women.  Then Richter and Maria had to try to set him straight.  I also have the theory that his powers were transferred to the Alcarde spear for some reason and he was pretty much out of the game after that, except for behind the scenes stuff related to his role as Arikado.  But if they wanted to, they could have included him at any time after SoTN.

Exactly, we don't know if he went to sleep.  Even if he did, we don't know exactly how long it lasted.  For all we know, he could have sealed his powers and moved to another country, perhaps the USA (it did exist back then).  Perhaps OoE will shed some light on the subject.

If there's going to be an unlockable character, it's gotta be Albus.

the same thing was said about isaac in cod, and we got trevor instead. :P

that said, 2d games usually have the guy most people expect to be there as unlockable, so probably there will be an albus mode. if they follow pork's idea, there might be some random mode too.

Alucard runs away to sleep because he does not want to be seen again. In the drama, he starts giving in to his vampiric urges which gives him more reason to hide from the world.

If they only had made Hugh Baldwin mode in CotM instead of... thief mode, and whatnot.

I think PoR having Richter and Maria was a bad move. It should've been Eric Lecarde as the secret character.
Or better yet, John Morris and Eric Lecarde. It would have made way more sense than Richter and Maria.
