There is absolutely no reason to believe that Richter won't be in the game.  IGA has used him more than any other Belmont, by far.  Or any other character at all for that matter.

Read more of IGN's notes.. CV/Power Stone? Not sure if that works. I'm just having trouble digesting bishi Simon. And "X marks the spot" Maria.. (facepalms)
But then again, the build they played was early (and albeit broken) Its already so close to E3, hope they deliver something. Otherwise, not sure if this will keep Castlevania going.

Why do I get the feeling, if this sells Obata will become the forerunner artist.

Simon has been bishi since chronicles =(.
The series is doing great, this won't hinder it even if it does terrible.
And Obata will not be the new Cv artist, that's just silly.

I'm going to admit that I'm ignorant on this fact, but when exactly did Castlevania become Sonic, where every game can't seem to score a 7 or higher and fans are literally praying that the next game Sega Team makes (::Go Go Sonic Unleashed!!::) won't suck and finally accomplish ending the franchise?

The series might not have the overrated love and almost obsessive admiration of certain other franchises out there (and personally, I'm happy there are good games in the series but it remains on a lower key) but I don't think it's on it's last legs.

I mean come on: I doubt a off branch game of this series is literally going to sink the entire franchise and I have no clue why this conclusion has even come into play.

It's an off shoot fighting game, not an actual counted entry into the timeline or series of games.  If DMC 2 couldn't sink that franchise, if Sonic '06 can't sink Sonic the hedgehog, if all those silly Megaman titles can't destroy that series or any of the Mario off shoots (and plenty of them suck) can't sink Mario, or the horrible CD-I Legend of Zelda titles that most of us completely ignore or pretend don't exists can't sink that one, then I highly doubt that this game is going to do the same to Castlevania.

Other than this game sucking based solely off of one screenshot, this is the most 'WTF' jump to drastic jump to conclusion I've seen so far for this game.

I agree. One bad game won't completely destroy the series. If Pokemon is still going after all the crap the company shoves at it's fans, there's no way Castlevania will go down any time soon! ;D

Well yeah. Of course it won't sink the series.

It may very well suck, though, and people don't like sucky games, whether it will change the series or not. :)

As for me, I think it's looking good, and it may very well be a good game, but that doesn't mean I have to completely like it.  ;)

Overall, it looks good to me, but I'm worried about the graphics and character design. In that type of game, character and level design is a MAJOR aspect of the game, so it's bothering me a bit... :-\

For me it's not a question of the series failing it's a question of standards. If this is all it takes to qualify as a Castlevania game then those of us who love the games of old and the recent handful of truly  great games and want another good quality game are gonna be screwed because financially if Konami can make money off of games like this why should they put more money into putting out a quality product? The best thing that could happen is for this game to just totally tank get bitched at by all the rating sites, and get a 1/10 score at the most. Now if Iga wants to use these kinds of crappy games to justify Konami putting money into games they're making along side them like OOE that's a whole diff. ballgame and I support that, but just putting  out crap for the sake of crap to rake in some money is just wrong.

No, but have you looked at it and read who's designing it and programming it? It is def. gonna be below the current standard. The guy from deathnote? give me a break might as well have the woman who does Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha in there too. Iga seems to show no support for this game and is only focusing on OOE. There's no way the level of standard in the game is even gonna come close to even the worst game Iga has given us thus far, they've all had good gameplay, and designs,

Well I'm a hardcore fan, I was playing the very first cv game when it first came out in the 80s, so that logic you're using doesn't make any sense.

Castlevania doesn't have just one style, each game has it's own style. Who knows, maybe there will be alternate costumes for the characters? Also, the multiplayer could be good but your bias (and other peoples') can't see past anything but "omg death note". I agree, the artwork isn't all that great, but it isn't PoR bad neither. The preview on ign said that the game is reminiscient of Power Stone, a game which was pretty damn fun when it first dropped on Dreamcast(they re-released it for psp, btw).

This game has some serious potential. Condemning it just because it breaks the mold is an irrational decision, imo.

Deathnote is a very successful anime, and the artist is EXTREMELY accomplished.  Just because his work on castlevania is in your opinion less than stellar, in no way makes this konami sinking standards in who they hire.  Like it or not in the bigger picture Obata is a much bigger name than Kojima.

Totally agree, man.

The most dissapointing thing of this game is the actitude of the CastleVania fans =/

I simply can't believe what i'm reading in the most of the cases.

And yeah, i'm a CastleVania Hardcore fan too, in fact the original NES title was my first videogame whe i was 3 years old, and now i'm almost 24.

I didn't expected that the rest of Castlevanis fans could be so mind-closed  :-\
