Which is why games like Soul Calibur only last like only a weeks worth of gameplay because it take so little time. SC4 was horrible.

I found Grant's story mode funny.

Spoiler warning. Highlight to see.

Grant tells Sypha that he is his future husband. Later on, both Trevor and Grant both fight over Sypha.

That's only single player. Fighting games are meant to last until you and your friends get tired of them. I still play King of Fighters XI and Garou Mark of the Wolves all of the time, even though the unlockables for them have long been completed. (And there aren't even any for Garou.)

Anyway, at least they're only locked in story mode. Most of them seem to be available in arcade and versus mode. So that's not too bad.

I've given it some more time, and...maybe it's not terrible. I mean, it's one of those games where you can just sorta press buttons and watch cool stuff happen. The minute you try to actually figure out what the hell is going on...well, the awful camera will put an end to that.

Once I get the game tomorrow, I might be able to crush any arguments you might have.

The camera works for me, I've had no issues with it. This game is actually quite easy to beat people, you just need to know how to do it. Im playing it on hard and its alot better than normal.

I put some time into this game. It's terrible. There's no reason for a game as awful looking as it to run at 30FPS and then to still become choppier whenever characters contact each other. The controls are very stiff, and the everyone has an easy (as in one button) combo that takes off about 1/4 of the opponent's life.

There was a point where I could accurately claim I own every Castlevania game released in the US and then some. That point ends now, there's no way I'd ever possess this in a way that involves me parting with money.

I was totally neutral about this game, willing to give it a fair shake, but everything about it is mediocre. Every aspect of it feels rushed. I can't believe people are expected to pay $49.99 for it. A rating of 7.5 (from IGN) seems about right for most sites since the gaming media rates things on a scale of 7 to 10 anyway, with 7 being shovelware and 9 being game that had marketing.

As far as the redesigns, Trevor I can sort of forgive, Death being a mechanical chump isn't exactly new, etc. Maria and Eric are shameful. Grant DaNasty is a pirate that feuds with Count Dracula not a mummy cyborg. Though for once I actually agree with my girlfriend that Alucard is hot.

The music that's almost 1:1 ripped from Dracula X/etc. is good. All of the original songs are beyond horrendous and sound like something anyone on this site could throw together with a basic mixer. Why is the sound quality so low?

Well go on, tell us how you really feel....

Personally I am really enjoying this game. I'm a hardcore KoF and VF player, but something about this game just feels "fun." (Maybe it's the simple pick-up-and-playability of it.) I know I'm seeing this game through Castlevania colored glasses and it's affecting a small bit of my judgment, but besides the lack of a true 'lock-on' mechanic I think there is a lot to like about this game.

Sleep on it a night, then come back without all those uber-high expectations. I think you will find a good game underneath there...

I actually went into this with pretty low expectations, I wasn't exactly Soul Calibur (hell I wasn't even expecting Toshinden) but I find every aspect of this game to be mediocre.  It feels like something they completed as quickly as possible to get out for the holiday season.  The game completely falls apart the minute anything's attempted beyond blocking for two seconds and then mashing the primary attack button.  The computer controlled opponents have been a joke so far even on hard, and the story mode is an embarrassment both in its writing and presentation.

Seriously, has anyone here actually tried this against another human for more than a few minutes?  It's a joke.

actually i've playe dthe game for over 12 hours ocmpleted ans was surprised by the games final arc, all in all decent but not the best we've seen for the first title in a possible spin off series, i dunno it could be expanded on entirely and improved in some areas rather tho i found the game quite enjoyable, now i need to go gather music so i can hopefully put a gamerip together, if someone else beats me to it tho i want a link, lol

Uhhh, that's completely incorrect. I bought the game, and the starting roster is Simon, Trevor, Alucard, Maria, Carmilla, Eric, Sypha, Cornell, Golem, and maybe someone else I'm forgetting. Not sure where you would've heard such blantantly false info.

So which one of you d00dz is pulling my leg on this?

They're talking about different game modes.  In the story mode only Simon and Alucard are available at the start, you have to unlock characters by playing through the stories.

So it's like the story mode in the Dynasty Warriors games, only you only have to kill around 10 people in a playthrough instead of 10,000 people.

The new Nintendo Power (Vol.236) has a big, two-sided fold-out poster of Order of Ecclesia (same image used in an earlier NP cover) AND Castlevania Judgment (a new collage of the character art)! Also, there's a full page ad for Judgment with brand-new artwork of Alucard, Simon, and Aeon (should have been the game's cover IMO), and a full page ad for Ecclesia. (Can't say Konami's not hyping these titles). Finally, there is a NP REVIEW for Judgment: 7.0/10.

The review was surprised there was no Soma and Richter. Is that a hint that there are no secret characters? I would think those two would be dead ringers for IGA to choose as hidden characters because he loves them so much. Time will tell, I guess.

...After the newest trailer, Judgment's style has really grown on me. It seems to have more energy than recent 3D Castlevanias, and the stage/arena designs of the clock tower and pirate ship appear more dynamic than IGA's usual 3D stages. Some of it reminds me of the N64 titles. When I get a Wii, I'll be picking it up. Looks like a lot of fun.

well I do admit it feels to me more solid then the ps2 titles, and with a good pace, sure it could have done with a longer story but, like all fighting games a story is told over several sequels, and IGA did say if the game did well a sequel would be very possible
