Good game indeed, but how come there wasn't any exploration mode in it, and not enough CGI Animation like in the beginning as I thought it would have more. Still it's a good game so far.
Simon Belmont and Megaman for the next Super Smash Bros!! Not Snake and Sonic, they're imposters!! Where are the Real Nintendo Classics!! It's them first then the rest!!

hmm i'd personalyl give it a 7.5, overall they did a fantastic job, however since i design games as well, i notice things that could have been better

None of the features asked for are present because Igarashi didn't design this as a fighting game.  "It's not a fighter," but rather, an adventure game that they refined so that people's hands wouldn't get tired from using the Wii Remote to whip people repeatedly.

Sad.

If I had to rate this personally, I'd give it something like a 4/10.  Assuming it's rated from 1 to 10 and not IGN/etc.'s system of 7.3 to 9.8.

Now THAT I don't understand. They could've easily made a huge action/adventure game on the Wii, probably the size of Twilight Princess (which, by the way, was absolutely playable even though it used the wii remote to wield the sword.)

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I wish they'd model the next CV after Twilight Princess, with mountains, villages, fields, forests, mansions and caves. But with more straightforward action and less talking. And you should be able to see the silhouette of Dracula's Castle in the distance nomatter where on the map you were. It would basically be Simon's Quest in 3D but much bigger. Yeah, that's how it should be done!

I think what made them do this so stupidly is that they're under the impression (like many developers actually) that Wii games require either 1:1 precision to be fun or just blind flailing.

Honestly if they just used the 64 games and Curse of the Darkness as a basis and built from there a perfectly good CV adventure game could be made in 3D.

The way Konami has budgeted and produced CV games so far, I still love them and play through them ASAP, but it feels like less and less love is put into each successive game.  I'd love to see the franchise in the hands of people not afraid to take a chance with the design in this day and age.

The review was surprised there was no Soma and Richter. Is that a hint that there are no secret characters? I would think those two would be dead ringers for IGA to choose as hidden characters because he loves them so much. Time will tell, I guess.

We do know Shanoa and Aeon have to be unlocked  by either connection OoE or by other means. And I imagine some of the other folks have to unlocked as well. I don't think they'd just make all 14 characters initially playable from the start.

The four unlockable characters are Shanoa, Aeon, Dracula, and Death.

By using the DS Wii connectivity you unlock Shanoa for story mode and Shanoa and Aeon for arcade, versus, and training.  With the DS connecting you also unlock Shanoa's voice set for gallery, and the Wings of Darkness and Skull Spider accessories for character customization.

I'm assuming you unlock Dracula and Death for arcade, versus, and training mode by clearing their respectitive story modes.

I noticed that they changed the character profiles in the instruction manual a little bit.  Looks like a new translation and a couple changes.  I'm trying to figure Sypha out.  They're now calling her a priestess.  But she was called a witch in the press release profile and that she was wearing priestly garbs to hide her true nature.  It's funny, there's no such thing as a priestess in the church, so I wonder how that works.  She seems to be upset about the massacre and persecution of her fellow priestesses, so it almost seems like they're just censoring the word witch by calling her and her kind priestesses.  Unless you could call them pagan priestesses.  If she's really upset about persecution of witches/priestesses, why would she be aligned with the church, unless she's more or less undercover in the church, at least to start out with?  Anyways, I hope this all gets cleared up after I play story mode with her.

My first impression of the playing the game was a little bit of disappointment that I couldn't play it the way I wanted to.  I play wii games standing up on a TV at face level, and I like to simulate full motion swings when I play.  So, if my character has a sword, I would make a full sword motion.  Iga said "please swing the remote however you like to", but I soon found that when I use full motions, I can't do combo moves (the second full motion doesn't do anything at all), which annoys me.  I have to go back to just flicking my wrists to get the combos to work, oh well.  I'm used to Soul Calibur Legends, which worked very well with full motion swings.  I'll just have to deal with it and adapt I guess.  I might be the only person with this complaint though.
