Let's face it, though. IGA's 3d is not the best. If he sticks to 2D, that's fine. Kojima can have the 3D portion: at least we know his 3D is typically quality stuff.

No offense to IGA, I mean, he did create some of the best CV games to date (SotN, Aos), but if Kojima one ups him in 3D, I wouldn't care less.

Exactly.  Fans seem up in arms about this now, but if Kojima can finally deliver that great 3D translation of Castlevania that we've been waiting on for the past ten years and still haven't received, no one's going to care about how Iga feels about all this.  Especially if Konami keeps Iga working on 2D games for the portables, and old-school downloadable games for XBLA, PSN and WiiWare.  Iga is perfect for those retro side projects, but leave the overall direction of the main series on the consoles to Kojima, who is far more qualified to lead the franchise.

Dude has a point honestly on all fronts, even if IGA's PS2 games weren't that great.

Problem is --if IGA remians in charge of the 2D, but has no control of the 3D storyline/content --we're gonna start to see serious more continuity conflicts and complications.

Good point. I'd like to personally think he's working on a 2d project with really good CGI parts. I honestly don't believe they just completely replaced IGA. Certainly, his 3D games did bad but his 2D and handheld games have done very well. If they want to split the timeline with this game on one and IGA's on another, that's fine I suppose. As long as they don't discredit the entire timeline. I would hate that. XD

It's kind of laughable how people insist that Iga's storyline is complex.

I'd hate to see what they would call the storyline to games like the Xenosaga series, then~
-----------
If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

It's not that it's complex, it just sucks. Because of him, anybody can destroy Dracula using anything.

Not just this (although I do agree that Iga's storyline sucks).  But because there is so much to it, any new story needs to fit within the framework of his timeline.  So Mercurysteam is developing a new Castlevania, one that will have a very cinematic story.  But, they have to make sure their story occurs at a time period that doesn't conflict with any of the current games...and they have to make sure to incorporate the Belmonts somehow...and they have to make sure the weapon is the Vampire Killer whip which can only be used by those with Belmont family chromosomes...and they have to make sure any origin story relates to the whole Leon/Mathias plot...  There are way too many land mines that they need to get around.  So rather than try to write a story that fits into the puzzle of Iga's timeline, the better option is to start fresh with a new story.

I think Iga's time line is a good solid base. The details of it makes it lousy. But if it's changed around a bit, I think it can be very interesting and good. It probably won't, but it could.

Alucard destroyed Dracula because he is his son and shares vampiric powers, etc.

Hector destroyed Dracula by being a Devil Forgemaster (he also inhabited isaacs weaker body) and by having a power equal too or greater then Death.

Shanoa was only able to destroy Dracula with Dominus.

John/Jonathan had the Vampire Killer.

It still takes either the VK and/or exceptional abilities and something relevant or related to dracula's power to destroy him.

Honestly, they still have a lot of room for things they can do in CV storylines, in-timeline, if they really wanted to.

Either way, a game as different as this shouldn't even be a part of the timeline in the first place.

I'd also like to quote from Mr.P's realm about another way of dracula defeat
"Dracula's reign was this time ended when he was defeated by Quincy Morris, who stabbed the Dark Lord through the heart with a wooden stake and sent him back to his resting place."
