At least Iga knew enough to not throw everything to the wayside that makes Castlevania Castlevania and just overindulge in generic, bland fantasy.
-----------
If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

well I still hate IGA for being so sexist.
even with Shanoa he miserably carved the story so that no one would remember her accomplishments and go unrecorded.

he kicked Sonia Belmont out of the timeline.

but I think MercurySteam might be just as sexist as IGA.
I mean I doubt Gabriel will meet some Maria Renard or Sypha Belnades type monster hunter  that can be unlockable for a new playthrough.

oh yeah this reminds me that Blizzard is also sexist because they cancelled Starcraft Ghost.  that was a terrible decision.

but anyway, at least we are getting a new Castlevania next year with a really big budget.

I wonder if maybe the entire game will be your standard fantasy adventure game UNTIL you enter Dracula's castle?

For me, they really haven't showed much for me to really know what to expect. I mean, they've shown some CV looking areas(and action), but also some World of Warcraft-looking monsters and such. Depending on what this team is going for, it could swing either way. I'll reserve my judgement after we get a good deal of screens and maybe a few more trailers. My hopes are that the medieval fantasy stuff is kept to a minimal and the gothic horror is brought in at full force!

I wouldn't really mind if there were no more handheld vania's for a while.  It would give me time to fully absorb the ones that are already out.  For Symphony of the Night, Legacy of Darkness, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow, I had played each game to death in as many ways as I could.  I enjoyed augmenting the games with cheat codes to play them with "custom modes" to get new experiences from them.  However, since then, I simply haven't been able keep up with the games and experience everything they have to offer, since the next one comes out before I can get to that point.  I'm happy if I just finish the game once, much less finish on hard mode or with additional characters.  And far too many things remain locked.

Maybe the end of the game will have Gabriel enter the Castle, and then we'll wait for the next one to come out when they can make a "true" Castlevania game from the ground up?

THAT WOULD BE THE WORST cliffhanger ever.

How, just how is he sexist? Because he retconned a game that happened to have a female protagonist?

well, Konami has decided that "this" is the team that has what it takes to bring Castlevania into the modern era.

I never said they would be doing this shit to modern day. As you may have noticed, I said I wouldn't like them to be the focus of the story this time. I would take it game by game, while thinking of the whole storyline and continuity.

I don't get what you mean by wtf in Dracula's case. Yeah, I want a similar guy to be part of the story. So shoot me for considering the "previous" continuity's main villain to be a significant character (sans the Wily Syndrome, of course).

Yeah, we should all just drop all that. Forget vampires. They're so 90's, right? Forget candles and platforming. Who cares about that shit, amirite?

Sometimes I wonder what exactly made some people like Castlevania in the first place when they seem so eager to throw all old away. Fuck it, why doesn't Konami just buy DMC from Capcom and slap "Castlevania" on it? That would be cool, right?

HOLD IT!!

There is still some truth to be told whether the mask was added by Kojima or mercurysteam themselves.

Since the mask was never mentioned from the beginning until the name stamp.

Right, because mercurysteam obviously isn't capable of designing things..this game has been in development for at least a year or two, it's not tlike this just popped out of nowhere.

It's ridiculous how fast you people jump to conclusions and tear things apart.
