Since Cox is here, I'd like to address a message to him.
Mr. Cox, as a long time fan on the Castlevania series, I have played virtually every game in the series. I have been whipping candles for hearts since the 80's. I've even undertaken a fan project to create a full fledged 2D Castlevania game. Despite my initial adversity to the whole idea of re-birthing the franchise in such a radical way, the progress presented thus far has been pretty remarkable. I may not be behind some of the ideas you and your team have come up with, but I do believe you guys have made what looks to be an epic game. It surely looks to be a better product of Castlevania in 3D than the earlier attempts. I went from loathing this game, to actually looking forward to it.
While IGA has done pretty well for the series, and I appreciate his drive to continue to develop these games, I do however have to agree with what you said. Passing the torch. In days of old, when a franchise was developed by many different teams, you had a wide variety of ideas. Some hits, some misses. Simon's Quest had a completely different flow from Castlevania 1 on the NES. Even the MSX Vampire Killer had a lot of differences. With each new team, new ideas and revisions of existing games came together. We have lost that in a way, since the same producer has been at it for the last decade. I believe it is time to pass the torch, and give someone else a shot. Lords of Shadow may not be my ideal Castlevania experience, but it is new. It is fresh. It is things I have not seen before. My hope is, the next game does the same. Bring in new ideas, refine old ones, and give us another great game.
This is a step in the right direction. I look forward to the release of Lords of Shadow, and I believe I will enjoy playing it. I even preordered the limited edition.
Thank you for your time, and reaching out to the fans.
On a completely different note;

I believe this is the same gameplay they showed off tonight.
