Everything's looking good so far! The trailer was awesome, and it was reassuring to see that the story and cutscenes will play a big part of this. If the plot shows more competence than what we've come to expect from the series in the most recent years, I will be very, very happy.

Also, all of this new information is teasing the crap out of me. I wish this game were out already. I've been holding off on starting Borderlands because I won't be finished by the time this game comes in the mail for me. Lords of Shadow will wait for nothing else  ;D

Another thing: I know it sounds blasphemous to say, but if the Combat Cross will be the main weapon in the game, I would hope for the Vampire Killer to not be in it at all. The VK is definitely the more storied of the two, but c'mon...the Combat Cross freaking stakes vampires. The VK almost feels obsolete at this point. I guess I could see it being used as the only weapon to kill Dracula, but still...
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Great gameplay footage! I'm glad the battles takes place in narrow corridors too, not just in arena type, open spaces. But wasn't there a boss battle shown too?

Well, turns out there weren't that many spoilers after all. I honestly don't understand more about the story now than I did before, except.. well... there was some dialogue that makes me speculate even more. All I understand is that things are probably not what they seem in this game. I'm guessing we'll see some good guys turn bad, and vice versa. The usual Castlevania stuff, but hopefully done right this time. Sounds like Gabriel will literally go through hell and back before this game has ended.

Oh, and there's still one voice actor who's listed as "Special guest".  ;D Wonder who that could be...

If he has a Twitter, then why is it so far-fetched for him to have an account here as well?

Cuz there are lots of fan sites, it's unlikely they'll favor one by visiting it. Though devs are talking to fans more lately.

I'm liking the american dubs more than the japanese dub. Except for the lil vamp girl, since the american one sounds whiney, though it might be what they were going for... whiney jap > whiney eng.

Fan-f$#king-tastic, that.  Is it just me or have Mercurysteam added a lot more colour and richness to the graphics since those earlier brownish-looking screenshots were released?  The atmosphere looks amazing.

Couldn't get that gameplay trailer working, but here's the direct link to 1up/GameVideos with Kojima demonstrating (apologies if already posted).  Smells of good DMC:

And, Mr. Cox nice to see you here. :)

Holy Hell! Death at 4:31-4:40! Awesome! Though... I'm kinda disappointed he doesn't have his signature scythe. Maybe he'll have another transformation that enables him to have it? Whoops, didn't really see it there, and that one screenshot where Gab appears to be fighting him is awesome. I'll post more when I'm done watching this 7+ minutes of epicness.

EDIT: Oh. My. God. That whole trailer gave me chills... The music.. was so epic, totally better than some of the other tracks we heard. A lot of the cutscenes and gameplay were awesome, and I loved the cool dragon boss thing towards the very end. I think my hype for this game just skyrocketed.  :o

There...really isn't much I can say about how much I love that trailer. I have so much speculation and my mind is boggling...I'm actually hype for the game now. I'll admit, I've been on the fence for a while but I seriously want to know the story and what the heck is going on. XD Gabe with the wings reminds me of Van Helsing a bit, where the hunter ended up being the 'hand of God', meant to bring down/strike down evil and demons. And the entire feel makes me think of older games, were Dracula raged war on humanity to completely corrupt or destroy it and mask is a tool to aid in the task. (And I think maybe all the Lords of Shadow have a piece, or Camilla had the entire thing but it somehow got broken.) And the Brotherhood of Light is reminding me quickly of The OoE: seemingly a good group, with good intentions but some are working for the bad guys right under our hero's nose and using him. And in the case of Gabe's wife, it reminds me a lot of Lament of Innocence, were I believe the bad guys are using her and her death against Gabe to drive him forward so he'll do whatever tasks (seemingly good) that needs to be done. I can't shake the overall feeling that Gabe is a puppet.

OMG, October 5th can't get here fast enough! XD

Since Cox is here, I'd like to address a message to him.

Mr. Cox, as a long time fan on the Castlevania series, I have played virtually every game in the series. I have been whipping candles for hearts since the 80's. I've even undertaken a fan project to create a full fledged 2D Castlevania game. Despite my initial adversity to the whole idea of re-birthing the franchise in such a radical way, the progress presented thus far has been pretty remarkable. I may not be behind some of the ideas you and your team have come up with, but I do believe you guys have made what looks to be an epic game. It surely looks to be a better product of Castlevania in 3D than the earlier attempts. I went from loathing this game, to actually looking forward to it.

While IGA has done pretty well for the series, and I appreciate his drive to continue to develop these games, I do however have to agree with what you said. Passing the torch. In days of old, when a franchise was developed by many different teams, you had a wide variety of ideas. Some hits, some misses. Simon's Quest had a completely different flow from Castlevania 1 on the NES. Even the MSX Vampire Killer had a lot of differences. With each new team, new ideas and revisions of existing games came together. We have lost that in a way, since the same producer has been at it for the last decade. I believe it is time to pass the torch, and give someone else a shot. Lords of Shadow may not be my ideal Castlevania experience, but it is new. It is fresh. It is things I have not seen before. My hope is, the next game does the same. Bring in new ideas, refine old ones, and give us another great game.

This is a step in the right direction. I look forward to the release of Lords of Shadow, and I believe I will enjoy playing it. I even preordered the limited edition.

Thank you for your time, and reaching out to the fans.

I'm disappointed. I'm not going to believe that was Death, or Dracula, or anyone. Beginning was BARELY and I mean BARELY recognizable.

Half of Castlevania is the music, and the ball has been dropped in this department.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks
DmC: Devil may Cry is the equivalent of trailer trash
"badly designed fat left on Lords of Shadow 2's bones."

While it looks like it'll be a good game, I'm glad its not part of the traditional canon. I still don't see anything at all from the other CV games. No enemies, I didn't recognize the music from the trailer really and the whole thing just doesn't remind me of cv. I'm still excited to play it, I'm just not going to see it as a castlevania title until I play it and see something actually from the series. Also, I'm not liking the whole angel wings thing. My guess it that, because gabriel is an orphan or whatever, he may have been some angel sent to earth, and I don't think I like that. So I hope that's not the case, and I hope he doesn't have all these divine powers. But like I said I'm still excited, I have the LE paid for and ill be at gamestop first thing in the morning on the 5th.
What a horrible night to have a curse!
