I think the game isn't calles Akumajou Dracula in Japan, just look at the website even in Japanase, the tittle says Castlevania. In the japanese magazine's (I don't remember thename) webpage where there was a interview with Kojima, it was called Castlevania, not AD. Let's accepit, they want to occidentalize it.
That's not a problem, I think IGA was very closed to new ideas, the japanese people is very mystical about their things, yes, that's their tradition, but some of the people (The most) don't like that, if the saga needs a good reboot, I think we are in the right way. And if you don't like the game, but it result to be good, IGA would be a dumb if he doesn't learn about this and make the typical pseudo-goth-japo-castlevania with a good gameplay.

Everything comes full circle

In japan, Lament of Innocence isn't Akumajou Dracula, it's just Castlevania
What a horrible night to have a curse!

Although I'm a big fan of Metal Gear, I'm with you on this one. But I'm not expecting excessive dialogue and convoluted cut scenes. Kojima's only been put on the project as a "hands-off" producer, right? Like others on here have said, I wonder if a big part of his involvement was just for his name recognition alone. He might not be doing much more than throwing around ideas.

I know not much is known about this project so far, but I'm getting a little less excited the more I hear about it. It's still a day-one purchase for me regardless of what gets announced, but I'm thinking that a lot of things that "make" a Castlevania game will get thrown out the window. If it strays far from the rest of the series and is still excellent, I'll still enjoy it. If not, well...I guess I still have all of the other games to enjoy. I still have faith that this will be a great game in general.

I'm still waiting for news on the status of IGA's console game. I'm sure it got scrapped, but I'd still love to see how it would've turned out.

It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

I come back from Tampa for the weekend, and read all this news. Castlevania is dead to me.

You know what? Go and cry over IGA's tombstone, I'm tired of you judging a game only for one trailer without any information.
And about the "reboot" thing , a spanish guy in castlemaniacs.com, a latin forum, talked with a developer of the game and he said that he couldn't reveal anything, but the game isn't a new storyline, it's placed at the "darkest times" of the storyline.
Think about the 4 centuries hole between Leon and Trevor.
Now go and cry alone fanboys (I'm not talking about everyone here, but the most) and kneel on your altar of God IGA.

We're not commenting on heresay at this point --just the official information made public by the E3 trailer and that pathetic interview.

Oh, I'm aware of LoI being called "Castlevania". I heard that the Japanese didn't like that name change, though, the reason why they went back to "Akumajou Dracula" after it.

Konami is like Ubisoft,  they don't know WTF they have in their hands, or what to do with it that would make fans and newcomers feel good.

I wonder if us, the fanbase, talking about how much Lords of Shadow was like CV lead Konami to making it CV.

Here's another bit of conjecture, since we have a lot of that in this thread: IGA and his console game could have been canned because it was in a very poor state of affairs.

And people also need to stop slapping the words "hating", "negativity", "untrue fan" or "IGA fanboy" on anyone who, rather rightly so, express their concerns over whether or not this game will stay true to Castlevania.

Well its getting annoying each time Saner says something like
"Konami is like this" or "Kojima is like that".

So its okay to welcome this kind of judgment?

I'm saying IGAfans because you seem to be that. Why? because (some)you are judging the game saying it's not a true CV, because it hasn't any Kojima's artwork? because the protagonist isn't an orgasm faced pseudo-goth? because it has not a repetitive non-melodical Yamane soundtrack? That's IGA's era. LoS is more approachable to the old school CV's, a brave warrior fights a horde of huge legendary monsters with a chain (The VK looks cool in leather, but it's a chain at the beggining). That's all, is more CV than the Ecclesia or the AOS. You are alarmed because it kills IGA storyline (if it reboots), but, what if this result to be a better storyline? IGA killed old storyline (About 100 years resurrection, the Belmont as the main Dracula's enemies etc) Cox has the same right than he had once.
I can only say, be patient, I'm trying to be it; I trust in Nacho's words: "This Castlevania is made for fans and foreginners, you won't be dissapointed".

Everything comes full circle

Of course there are a few "MetroidVaniacs" who make a simple comparison between this and the 2-D games since SotN and HoD. But to tell you the truth, to me it seems not that many. Blind IGA fandom is rare nowadays, IMO. At least on this forum. Most of use have acknowledged his faults years ago. Mentioning IGA does not instantly make you an IGA fan. You don't have to love or hate his work. There's something between.

And with that, I think you go to great lenghts to polarize. How seriously can you claim that you can be sure that this is closer to old school CV? There has been only one goddamn trailer showing any gameplay so far and judging from that, the look and the sound is more like GoW and the like instad of CV. It's not necessarily just bad, because for rejuvenation some things need to go but the things that are staple features of CV, for better or for worse, seem to be very scarce at the moment. What I suggest they do next is focus on the history of CV, on individual games and series as a whole and do a lot of work to create that CV feel instead of stating arrogant sounding shit like saying that fans and everyone else should forget everything they think they know about Castlevania. And I'm not talking about IGA's canon when I say history.

No fan wants this to suck. Expressing these concerns while justifying them are just a manifestation of that.
