zobek narrating everything is awkward because it makes it seem like zobek is silently stalking gabriel.
I still stand by my Zobek becoming Dracula conspiracy theory.

Maybe Zobek and Dracula are brothers. Remember, Zobek is (according to his profile) the oldest member of the Brotherhood but no one knows exactly how old he is. And it doesn't hurt that his knowledge about the masks is suspect.

Probably still too early to say this is the best 3D Castlevania ever?

There is absolutely no doubt about this. Especially since what it is up against... It's no contest.

I'm with you on this. I really feel like Gabe is just a 'puppet' in all of this: pushed by his dead wife to do exactly what someone wants/needed him to do to get the mask...or kill off all the other LoS that could pose a threat to a new master's rule. I think the long haired guy (the one sitting on a throne) is meant to throw us off. Like he's the 'Walter' of this game and Zobek is probably going to be the 'Mathias'.

EXACTLY what I'm thinking.

"Don't you see, Gabriel? You can bring her back!"

That line right there made me start thinking Zobek wasn't all he seemed to be. He possesses more knowledge of the Mask itself than anyone else, I found that very suspicious from the start.

I can't wait to be proven wrong though, behind it all I still feel very clueless where this story is going to actually go. :P

It's not necessarily the direction I wanted them to go in either, but like you said it'll still be the best out of the N64/PS2 titles.
i actually meant stuff like the glowing edges and giant text and glowing body parts of enemies to hit and etc. of course, people are saying that it'll probably be possible to turn them off in options.

I won't mind the glowing stuff, but it would be nice being able to turn it off.

I've also seen that you don't have to always right trigger/RB enemies to finish them off. In recent footage I've seen Gabriel take out enemies without using it, so I guess it's more of a take down move. Similar to how Batman Arkham Asylum did it.

Bosses, however, it looks mandatory in order to continue.

When it comes to storytelling, I think Castlevania is best played as an epic tragedy.  One of IGA's most brilliant ideas was the Somacula/Julius mode ending in Dawn of Sorrow.  Seeing a hero like Soma Cruz get corrupted and destroyed is exactly what Castlevania is all about!  Unfortunately something was missing --there was no emotion behind it...  I remember when I first played through Final Fantasy IV...  The game introduces characters and them humanizes them --makes them fun, sympathetic, or even lovable --and then puts them in these epic situations...  I want a Castlevania game that do that --take us on a character driven journey where the game is far more personal than anything we've seen from the series before...  We doesn't need more of these silly cookie-cutter anime inspired cliches.   I'm hoping Mercury Stream has the skill and the guts to deliver us a truly mature game with a sympathetic, human hero who we can all fall in love with --and them watch him get abused, duped, betrayed, and completely destroyed in the ways we least expect.  Castlevania is ready for some hardcore tragedy --and these trailers fill me with hope.

Come to think of it, that line had me briefly thinking along the same lines when I first heard it. It seems like a manipulative thing for him to say.

It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Who is the voice saying
: "you realise it's a trap, don't you Gabriel?" or something like that? Is it Zobek too? That would be kinda contradicting...

Unless he's trying to warn Gabriel, but has no choice but to fight him because Gabe is determined to get the mask. Carmilla says something similar too. I'm guessing that it's not the greatest idea to use the mask. The Lords are protecting it for a reason. Maybe they're not really evil.

Completely agree with you there mate, I'm also filled with hope that we'll be getting that.  I'm more than willing to overlook small things if the game delievers there.

The only thing that bothers me with the game is in the gameplay footage we've seen thus far, and shelverton/thernz alluded to it: it’s the length of time it takes to down monsters, and repetition of cut-scenes/killing manoeuvres while battling a boss.  Bayonetta did it to death, but there was enough eye-candy (lots going on on-screen basically) and it was really fast so that it didn’t feel too much of a grind.  That Malphas battle looked fantstic, but rather on the repetitive side.  The titan battles similarly aren't doing much for me, I don't fancy spending 20-25 minutes taking one down, but hey, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

To be honest I'm more looking forward to the story and non-fighting elements in the game, the shimmying and platforming, taking in the landscapes with the score behind it.

An Easy mode may make the run through a bit quicker, I just hope with harder modes it’s not just a case of 100 hits per enemy to fell ‘em.  Unlocking a Classic Castlevania mode, with the one/two hit kills would be cool.  Devil May Cry 4 introduced a whole slew of replay modes, each with great replay value, it would be good to see Lords’ do something similar there.
