I really just hope that there is enough gameplay or elements to keep Castlevania fans like me entertained, I know that they're trying to reach new audiences with this extreme change in gameplay but I hope fans like me get something...like the platforming I liked, and the enemies or if it's not too much...Dracula maybe?

I think they've struck a good balance between old school Caslevania and new Action-Adventure titles. While it's gotten a large facelift there are still core elements of Castlevania in LOS. Even if it's hidden under all the polish and pretty graphics.

At the same time it also feels like a completely new adventure. As much as I personally loved the DS titles and even Harmony of Despair, it wasn't very fresh or ground-breaking. Not that I minded, it was still Castlevania. But LOS actually did something I didn't think was possible. So I'm really looking forward to experiencing every moment of it.

That demo needs to get here now, watching these videos isn't enough anymore!  ;D

yeah I agree with you on the DS titles I finished all of them BTW including the GBA ones but they weren't groundbreaking, SOTN did it and it was awesome but then the rest on the DS didn't have the same magic if you may, but I was wondering what "balance" are you talking about? as far as I read the only thing this game has in common with other Castlvanias is the name "Belmont" and a whip, now don't get me wrong I'm not trying to berate the game or anything, but I was really wishing there was something that made it a Castlevania or something similar, whatever that may be, but I understand the difficulty of shifting a lifelong series of 2D into 3D, lots of stuff are going to change. I just nope not too much is changed...for it to be different, then the rest of God of War genres.

Well as far as what I meant by balance, they do indeed have Castlevania elements mixed in with the new design. Now keep in mind this is just my opinion of the game and what MercurySteam has done with it.

Sub-weapons: So far we know that you'll get the dagger and holy water subweapons in the game. That is traditional Castlevania.

Belmont and the whip: As you stated this is another thing that would make it a Castlevania game through and through.

Breakable candles: I know that's minor but it's still traditional!

Familiar bosses: Some of the bosses from older Castlevania games make a return here as well, albeit looking somewhat different. (Malphas, Slogra, Death, Brauner, Carmilla, etc.)

Backtracking after upgrading abilities: This is moreso from the recent Castlevania entries but that is also in this game as well. Certain spots require you have an ability that you would otherwise have at a later point in the game.

And uhm...well...a Castle. A few of them in fact. I'm sure there are other similarities but that is just what popped into my head.

Yall guys keep babling about the same info everyone's heard of.
Why not make yourself useful and submit that info to Jorge so he can add Castlevania Lords of Shadow to the video games section in the main site.

oh well I guess that's pretty enough for me, if there's backtracking then there's something from metroidvania, and this might seem psycho to some of you but...I can't stop breaking candles in castlevania games, even long after I reached the hearts cap. I think there's some Monk-syndrom there.
and I better see the Legion boss there, I always liked the disgusting bag of corpses.

just replayed the first stage of Castlevania 64 while in "wait for new 3D Castlevania mode".  anyone catch any nods to fans of the N64 games other than the inclusion of Cornell as a Lord of Shadow?

after playing the Forest of Silence, I'm reminded of how nice it was to have an open environment without all these little "load breaks" between sections.  i guess i'm expecting that'll be the case with LoS that'll be nice to get back to.

my " waiting for new 3d Castlvania mode " somehow involves playing circle of the moon.
I never played Castlvania 64 but now I guess I should...some say it's awful and some say it's great, I guess if I tolerated Lament of Innocence to the end then this shouldn't be too hard.

CV64 is far more 'Castlevania' then LoI ever was, or is. Give it a play-through anyways. I've enjoyed it eventhough at the time it came out I was somewhat dissappointed, though the game has grown on me over the years.

I'm going to be playing Super Castlevania IV in the next week, then CV2. I don't want the stink of the other 3D titles to affect my playing of LoS (if that makes sense, lulz)
