Man, this wait is getting unbearable. All the discussion has shifted to heavy spoilers at this point (which I dare not take part of), and speculation and related discussion in general has all but dried up.
Well, you better hope you'll end up enjoying this game then.

I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced, and everything I've seen has been jiving with me so far.

You've been flip-flopping since the start, so I'm not surprised to see you disappointed.

seems that GAMESTOP is having a midnight release.. which means I'm gonna be pulling an all-nighter.

At my local Gamestop the midnight release is for a sports game (forgot which one), not LoS. Guess I'll have to wait til Tuesday after all.

So, what is the consensus thus far from those who have majorly spoiled the game by watching online play-throughs and the like??? Good as you hoped?

One thing IGN said that was fairly accurate was that none (or very few) of us have actually played the game from start to finish, and so we're making assumptions about the entire package as rather biased CV fans at this point. Personally, as a Castlevania fan, and just from the limited materials I've seen and read (which doesn't even include all of the long trailers) I predict this game will be around an 8.7/10 for me. Cautious as I am, I doubt I'll give it a 10/10 (I've never felt 100% fully drawn in by any of the promo materials hype really); but I'm willing to be surprised into it. Then again, I could be negatively surprised, and my predicted score range might dip. We'll see.

The game is good save for a few akward moments, but for people were expecting the Castlevania (Metroidvania or otherwise) that they wanted are in for a dissapointment as well as a rude awakening. It's like rolling a snowball uphill untill the very top, then rolls all the way down and hit's a rock on the way and shatters into small bits and catches on fire and your left wondering what the fuck just happened?(Im talking about the final 2 hours, including the ending.)

Untill I play it personally, I'd give it an 8/10

From the looks of it, I didn't really like the level design for the most part. There was a lot of gray space. And I thought the pacing and flow was all over the place.

Wow... okay, I'm playing it and seriously.... there are so many things that disappoint me in this game...

First off... I never thought a fixed camera can be so bad! I've always hated fixed cameras but holy cow, does this one take the cake. And the platforming ...... ugh. Feels very unpolished as well... anyone want an actual review? I haven't gotten too far yet but man... I'm quite a bit disappointed. (Just to mention, I'll probably be kind of harsh since I've played NGB and so many things were done right in that game that this game should've had)

Ninja Gaiden Black.

Anways, here's a pretty nice review that was posted a few hours ago. Has lots of (spoiler-free) footage.

Yea my bad, I sometimes forget I'm not on the Gfaqs Ninja Gaiden forums which is, or was, where I frequent a lot.

I've got my copy yesterday  ;D, and I played about 2 - 3 hours... I really liked it, at the beginning it kinda feels like GOW... but it really requires you to fight with some strategy, as blockings and dodgings are necessary while you progress through the game. That's how you begin to get the difference from other games.

It does mention Gandolfi a lot (every time you upgrade your combat cross), but I haven't reached any major keypoint of the story. One thing I enjoyed is dying hehe... That was one of the things that reminded me it was a CV game. It's not *that* hard, but I think it has a higher level of difficulty than many other action-adventure games.

Anyways, hope you all get your copies soon. Enjoy!!
