oh you bickering clowns.. check out this news from Cox:

@sNsKid - We just finished it, so it's gonna be a couple of weeks at least in submissions. Sorry for the wait but it's gonna be worth it!!

(I work in the industry too, and submissions do take a week or so, so I am estimating we get it around Feb 26 (at earliest), or so..

However good LoS's score was it still didn't sound like Castlevania music. No pipe/church organ anywhere didn't help it at all either.

Yep. It was pretty good music (some parts much more so than others), but it sounded like Araujo only looked at a couple of concept art pieces before writing a score.

I love me some classical music, but LoS lacked a lot of the complexity I love in the genre (like Bach, Stravinsky, etc.).

If I had to make a suggestion as for what I would've liked to see (and I would hope Dtrius understands what I'm trying to say) all 3 areas (land of the lycans, land of the vampires, and land of the necromancers) should have had their own specific musical vibes and compositions woven in with the central themes of LoS.  Repetition of songs is fine between the chapters in each of these areas, but to really highlight the descent Gabriel was going through as well as characterize the different lands, there definitely needed to be more music, as well a better ratio of mellow to fast paced compositions (there were too many of the former in my opinion).
This. I strongly agree with this. Repetition would be fine as long as there are different scores for the 3 different areas. more LoTR style for the Lycan area, a more gothic castlevania style for the vampire land, and maybe some unnerving ambience type music for the land of the necromancers.

Quote
For example, Waterfalls of Agharta is beautiful and mixed well with the chapter it was named after as well as the 3 towers stage...but I didn't appreciate it as much in the machine tower...or the underground cave that you teleport into after baba yaga's quest...or the final portion of the necromancer's land.
Really? I actually liked it very much in the Clockwork Tower. I cant explain why, but it gave the misty enemilless tower a sort of peaceful air. Not to mention it goes well with the introductory camera sweep of the location, showing that sort of angelish statue.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Araujo needs to look at Castlevania Bloodline's soundtrack. Stuff of that caliber for a 3D Vania would be incredible, Iron Blue Intention and Prayer of a Tragic Queen. Beautiful tracks.

I miss Yamane now. :(

Didn't Araujo say that Konami told him to make the music more epic and move away from the "efeminate" style of the older Castlevania music?

"Effeminate"? If anything, the CV series has never had effeminate music. I was never aware there was such a thing. LOL!! ;D

I absolutely love the style of music and I'm glad they've finally used a full orchestra to make the music, I just wish they had made it actual Castlevania tunes.  I would expect the exact same thing in the DLC packs and the sequel, I doubt we'll hear anything else familiar

I think I'm one of the very few that didn't really like the CoD score. It was OK, just seemed to "artsy" in some ways to me. I thought LoI's score blew CoD's away. JMO though.

As for the LoS score---the in-game score is good, although repetitive and only a small sample of the whole thing. I'd reccomend you D/L the extended score. It's massive and pretty friggin' awesome. It seems what they did was record a ton of tracks and then pick & choose only a handful for the game itself. Hopefully we get more of it in the DLC.

Well that sucks.

I guess it's pointless hoping for Castlevania music now then.

Dammit! I guess Konami's a lot like Capcom. That's the same thing that happened with DmC's new Dante look. Ninja Theory wanted to use the traditional Dante, and Capcom said, "No! Go and make him look WAY different!! Make him look NEW!!". Urgh!

Ehhhhh I don't know... I really like Lords of Shadow.
I just wish it borrowed a little bit more from the IGA style games (mainly in the music department).... but not a lot!
