Yeah, I still have no clue about how to do ma boi Gattsu some pixel justice, but I'm actually more worried about adapting a story heavy manga to an action platformer.

Draw a sprite, voxel it up and give it depth. MagicaVoxel works best. It's like playing minecraft, but better.

I find your color choices questionable. Your sprite uses over 20~ colors, a lot of which are only used in one place or for a few pixels. There also doesn't seem to be much contrast between the colors, making it appear a very soft and fat image.
I made a demonstration that reduces the color count to 15 and employs more contrast.

Thank you; I've taken your advice but decided to work on the Palette a little more resulting in this, All Original Colors are represented 1:1 except White, pure White/Blacks are something I usually avoid.
