I do agree with that. For an anniversay, the remake is the lazy-acceptable way out. (Lazy-unacceptable would be... you guessed it, more DLC for LoS) I would like to see a game about Alucard after SotN, possibly turn the audio drama he was in into a full-blown CV game (I listened to it, it was pretty cool).

Alucardvania, LoS Style, with a great respect towards the series (music, enemies, weapons, spells, characters, bosses, etc.) = full win.

So in other words, the cancelled Alucard game? You know that was gonna be win. These three always seem to make a game right if they're together, even one missing can screw the whole thing up: Koji Igarashi, Ayami Kojima, and Michiru Yamane. But of course, not having IGA would be fine, but I'd prefer it. ^.^

In some way. I'd see a cool LoS-style game starring Alucard, but more respectful towards the series than LoS (though I love LoS).

I love LoS, too. Never played it, but it'd be perfect as a stand-alone title (probably would have sold better had it not gone under the Castlevania title). But yeah, a 3D-hack-and-slash with real/not half-assed platforming with Alucard would be awesome.

The three of them were involved with Lament and Curse. Both contain some of Kojima and Yamane's finest work in the series, but... yeah, they're not very good games. Curse was worse than Lament, even. The teased Alucard game was probably going to be more of the same, so I'm glad they canned it.

That's like saying "I love Star Wars. What's that, which movie is my favorite? Oh, I've never actually seen any of them."

Not exactly, because I may have watched the whole thing on YouTube.

Ha ha 'may have watched'.

I share some sentiments with that, as I don't own the PS2 CV's but I own copies of 'em that, while I didn't personally play, I watched my college buddies play all the way to the end.

I think they're terrible games for my tastes (they feel like dungeon crawlers rather than action titles).  I started playing LoI and got bored out of my wits at the House of Sacred Remains.  There are only so many identical rooms (sure, they moved an organ or a bookcase to the other side of the room, or put a window on one that isn't in another) I had to go through before I just up and quit.  It was better to watch someone else go through the trouble of playing the game and just watch the cutscenes and the boss battles.

For the record, I still find Lament the most successful the series has been in 3D, despite its saddening focus on combat-in-a-box et al. Such is the triumph of the style the game exudes from every pore. There was always a hopeful sentiment that it was a good start, but then Curse happened and just amplified every problem. Oh well.

For all of its flaws, at least Lament was truly Castlevania.

This ^^^

Say what you want about LOI but atleast it felt like a CV game. If only Lament would have focused more on distinguishing the rooms or focused more on platforming then I believe LOI would have trully been one of the crown jewels of the series.

But overall I still enjoyed LOI alot.

It 'sort of' felt like one to me... but not really.  Not nearly enough jumping and reaching spaces after climbing towers with stairs and pitfalls and such.  Coupled with too much 'room locks shut, defeat all enemies to proceed' nonsense.  That's not Castlevania to me.  That's... Final Fight.

House of Sacred remains I really liked, but only really because of the music in retrospect. HoSR is one of the best tracks in the game.

As for stages, I really liked The Garden Forgotten By Time. (Even though it did frustrate me a fair bit) there's just something about it.

And as for the stage Hub, i REALLy wonder if that was made because of any time or space or what have you limitations, laziness, or just because IGA thought it would be a good idea.

I just think IGA sucks at making 3D Castlevania games. And his idea of obsessing on gameplay innovation before anything else really hurts him. We have CoD to prove that. I mean... just... LOOK at it..!

I feel Mercurysteam did a better job "innovating" than IGA could ever do.

Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Funny you should say that.  I was surprised how similar LoS's combo-centric combat felt compared to LoI --BTW Lament's spell fusion completely destroys Lord's cliched light and shadow magic crap...
