Last words from me.
Doesn't look like it.
If the so called masterpiece LoS is so accepted by fans as the true 3D Castlevania game, then why Konami and Mercury steam they went into trouble and make a poll about how fans found the game and what did they thought was missing and what they would like to see more?
It is completely normal to make a poll about opinions. No need to create conspiracies where there is none.
Some people should underestand that they belong in minority and if Konami with Mercury steam, didn't get what hardcore fans want and just make another clone, at least for me i would consider the series dead.
The only problem - it is harcore fans who is in minority, because it's casual gamers who make money, first and foremost.
Consider whatever you want - as long as new games released in the series - it is alive, no matter what some fanboys think.
I have abandon silent hill and final fantasy, since they went for the casual market and they have forgoten the old fans of the series, all in the name of money.
Reeks of fanboy butthurt so much: "the game wasn't tailored to meeee!!! I hate it, I will not buy it!!" So what? Did Silent Hill died without you? Did Final Fantasy died without you? Nope. It's should be a clue that your opinion amounts to nothing in the big picture. And all this epic "I abandon the fandom" does nothing to anyone. Except for the people who likes some fandom dramas, I guess.
So what? They made a decision on what direction the series should take off, so now why are they backing off?
Who said that they are backing off?
Count how many active users have this forum and then count, how many of them have the same passion for LoS, as you do.
CVD is a pretty old forum and most of the its members were / are fans of Castlevania since its early days. It is obvious, that most of the "old fans"'s sympathy automatically lies with the old games. It is completely normal (while sad) for the old fanbases.
Alas, if the companies and fanbase, they couldn't survive without me. You can't call me that i'm not a true fan, when companies sold me out for money, by turning some serious video games to saturday morning cartoons.
Not really, since these days, companies seem to not care about fans, but only money. I really miss the old days, where games were simple.
Ha-ha-ha. That's brilliant. As much as illogical.
Sorry, baby, but we are not in 1992 anymore.
The only reason why developers in the 90-s cared about fans is because they...surprise...wanted to make money. And back then fans opinions really mattered, since games were pretty small scale business. There weren't million budgets and several hundreds people could pay off the development.
Nowadays, things changed. The only series that actually need fanbases are small niche "old school" series that most of the (casual) gamers will not buy, because they don't appreciate them as people who were raised in the 90-s. Developers of those niche games need to pray for their fans to buy they product. While most of the big budget titles could survive solely by agressive marketing campain, name appeal and special effects. Fanbases are mostly obsolete as they were, because they are not the ones who make millions for game industry. They whines and cries are essentially is a annoying noise, that developers willingly don't give a damn (and why they should - times changes, technology changes, hardware changes, cost changes). If fandoms still dicatated to developers what kind of games they want to see, I think game industry wouldn't go past SNES style games, since every time when someone tried to make some new approach to the series, fanbases would go into RAGE. Happily it's not the case nowadays. In the end as I said before - your opinion doesn't matter. It's your average Joes, not hundreds of "loyal fans", who buy most of the new games and make money. And in general industry cares about them, not the crowd of old fans, in which many people still think that games should be like in 199x. And since games always were made to make money (no need to be all romantical about past - developers never worked for cookies). The ones who pay decide what the games will be.
HINT: It's not you.
All awards have about the same credibility; near zero. If they handed Araujo a VIDEO GAME music award, it proves how capable they are at identifying appropriate video game music. In this case, not at all capable.
I like how every time, when critics opinios doesn't go along with opinion of fans, those people immdeately say that said awards doesn't worth anything.
It's like a template nowadays. Personally I'll go with critics opinions, since they kind of understand what they talking about. You? Just a random name on the internet. No hard feelings.
