Troll thread is now a Bloodlines appreciation topics.

It's still one of the gorier games in the series. I like how sometimes you can manage to decapitate the harpies, plus the silly amounts of blood in dracula's castle. I liked how the factory level in Germany meant the game was actually aware of, hey, this takes place during WWI instead of mentioning it and the prologue and never bringing it up again.

The inclusion of minibosses was also great. I don't think any other game has done that since, right?

The only thing that grinds my gears are the crow sound effects. It's definitely...something to hear them quack. Also the crystalline sound effects for the whip were kind of eh.

CV3 had the Phantom Bat and Medusa as minibosses.
CV4 had Puwexyl.

But Bloodlines had consistent minibosses (every stage had one).  The castle was dripping with Blood (Blood Countess's fetish, perhaps)?  It also had interesting bosses like the Gear Spinner and the Pillar of Versailles.

Also, Sinking Old Sanctuary and Calling from Heaven. :D  And Requiem for Nameless Victims.

Ok, there is few things that I want to clear:
So, according to your statement, Castlevania 1, 2, 3, Super Castlevania 4 (that considered by many people as one of the best games in the series, next to SOTN), Rondo of Blood, Castlevania Adventure 2, Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow, Order of Ecclesia are all not worth mentioning.
Did I understood it right or there is some miscommunication problem?
Because if I understood what you have written, as it is, it basically means that according to yuor words, most of the series is crap and even games that appreciate by practically every single fan, is shit an there is only SOTN and nothing else?
While I personally not big fan of Genesis, and there is some things that I dislike about that console I must say that Bloodlines was one of the best classicvanias in the series. In terms of graphics it was very good. There were ceratin limitations, but Konami managed to work around them and make the game good looking. Also the game was rich in special effects, even more so than great SCV4.
Gameplay was interesting. The idea take action from the castle was awesome and it's sad that it wasn't used very often in the series.
The only thing that was not so good about this game, was music, but in the end it wasn't very bad. And some compositions actually sounded very nice, even taking Genesis specific sound hardware in account. Certainly not horribly jarring or annoying.

No I meant no other company outside nintendo and sony you miss read that or I wasn't clear enough. Castlevania is a series that has been 90% nintendo I am talking games outside the nintendo hardware specifically with the exception of sony does that make more sense?

CV4 had Puwexyl.

Yeah but scv4 had mode 7 backgrounds and rotating stages and you could swing from the whip and ride a chain through the clock tower and on and on I mean seriously a much better game and much better quality sound to boot. Simon's theme I mean comon! CV3 seemed like a better game also even being an 8bit game it had a forking path and more playable characters and I think more stages overall. Kinda puts bloodlines to shame if you ask me. But bloodlines was the best of the sega line of cv games. It just wasn't on par with the other games in the series of that era.

@Corpsecrank, cranker of corpses
I really liked Bloodlines, while the graphics weren't technically brilliant, they really played with their setting and created a bunch of memorable moments. I think it was a lot better at utilizing all those graphical effects than Super Castlevania IV. I loved the music too.

How do you feel about Bloodlines compared to SNES Dracula X? You mentioned that you got to play it, but I thought it was one of the worst Castlevanias.

Dracula X was bland. scv4 was a better game I thought. I played scv4 first and it left a lasting impression on me. Being able to swing from the whip made the game a lot more fun to play than dracX where it felt like I was playing an 8bit cv game again due to the limited and clunky controls. But some people think that dracX/rondo are way better than scv4 maybe because it is more true to the originals who knows.

Yes. Yes YES! Bloodlines has one of the best soundtracks in the series! I may prefer the music in Super Castlevania 4 because it's so sophisticated and unique, but Bloodlines is soooo catchy and awesome from start to finish it's almost a tie. I don't even know if you can compare the two. They're two different kinds of fantastic. And I actually like the genesis soundchip in this particular game. It sounds rich and pretty sweet. It's not like Sunsoft's Batman or anything, but no other genesis game managed to do that. At least not that I know of.

Yeah I mean don't mistake me here the soundtrack is awesome but the hardware does not do it justice. I think that was misunderstood in my original post. The audio capabilities of the genesis were laughable. Just like the audio from a GBA is horrid but the music from CoM was pretty good despite the hardware playing it as if it were coming from a 1950s transistor radio.

guys, realize, that you cant argue with this:
But of course, I mean textures. Even if not in exactly the same format,  each texture has coordinates for the specific reusable portion of the image grouping. It's the same exact concept as traditional tiled 2d graphics, for the same exact reason. Reusability, centralization, and resource efficiency.
I don't agree though.

the control is pretty bad too.
bloodlines was an early cv game to allow you to walk up and down the stairs more easily and less annoyingly and you can jump off and back on them. also the heroes could either go farther horizontally or vertically to cross over hazards that would have been otherwise impossible to navigate

i personally found bloodlines to be one of my favorite megadrive games  8) : aside from fewer stair problems, it gave us eric, "iron blue intention" which gave me that 'i can do this!' kind of feeling, "reincarnated soul" was great too, and a certain extra treat for setting the music and sound effects to certain numbers
though i just wish some of the bosses were more challenging

Also: whip swinging from ANY ceiling surface.
Word, Simon belmont may be able to swing from grapple points, but John Morris? From any fucking ceiling he damn pleases.

@ Flame that has to do what with this thread? And yet I am called a troll like 10 times today because of my opinion alone.

And no I did not agree so what? When did I lose the basic human right to form my own opinion on a subject? But forming an opinion is trolling and cross posting with the intent to cause drama is not?

I am confused by this because it is the reverse order found on the rest of the internet.

If loving FM synth is wrong I don't ever want to be right.

Hey what you love and I loath may be one in the same. I mean people love dubstep am I right?

I'm not saying it is necessarily wrong. I am only saying that I think it sucks. It's fine if some people prefer bloodlines over another game. My point is that I think it's crap for the reasons I stated.
