Lament for sure. The hub-style setup felt very Megaman-ish to begin with. I can even imagine it as an 8-bit Classicvania, much like IGA's doing with Classic Mode in Bloodstained.

A gimmicky 3DS outing where you play Alucard cutting up Dracula's minions. Think Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.  ;D

I'm thinking LoI as well. The dungeon crawling thing doesn't really fit CV.

I'll go for LoI as well since I feel that the game was trying to be like the Metroidvanias, but in 3D, which ended up being inferior to the 2D outings.

I disagree with the LOI comments. At least in the technical sense of taking the 3d map and flipping it into 2D, it still would've been incredibly 'boxy'. It just needed to have more open areas, more crazy super jumping mechanics and the ability to run faster from the get go and less focus on 'combat' when the AI doesn't really merit the use of it.
They should just redo LOI in full 3D glory.

Also "which 1 u think".. I laughed :)

I also voted for LOI since it felt 2D-ish to me when I first played the game.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the N64 games, I have to be honest with myself and go with all of them, whether classicvania or metroidvania. Though, some would be suited better as a particular style. I'd love to see a classicvania of Lament of Innocence.

I'd really like to see a well executed Metroidvania style version of LOD. Even if there are limited attacks, this is one instance where I feel that chain attacks and combo's would be really interesting in a 2d CV game.

I think CoD.  It was pretty great in basically every area except level design.  Putting it into 2D could produce one of the best games in the series.

Dracula was not always a monster. He was once a man named Mathias Cronqvist. A flawed, conflicted, genius of a man. How did the educated, aristocratic, crusader who piously served the church become a vampire, and eventually the Dark Lord himself, the opposing force to God? From a very young age terrors and tragedy shaped the man into the king of all evil. This is his story.

It didn't need to be 2d it needed platforming and verticality in its environments.

Voted Judgement for the fact it should've been 2D from the start. For a series known for great 2D games, a 3D fighter seems strange doesn't it? I know Judgement has it's fans, but lets be real, we'd all love a 2D fighter with sprites from all over the series. Just imagine how many characters they could've had if they devoted time to developing them and using past sprites, and even then their different costumes could be older spritework. Make it like the Alucard vs. Doppleganger and Richter fights in SOTN but tweak it to make it appropriate for a fighting game (like how Ghosts n Goblins switches to a 1 on 1 deal for the last boss).

For the other games, LoI goes second just because it's an origin story, plus with the whip and megaman style level select it'd be fun in 2D. CoD would be another metroidvania, the 64 games would be like the classics again but multiple characters so like Bloodlines. MoF is like a glimpse of LoS 1&2 in 2D.

I was going to say LoI and CoD, as 1) I haven't played any of the other 3D Castlevania's yet (starting on the N64 ones soon) and 2) They really do feel like they could benefit from being redesigned into 2D style games, for much the same reasons that Crying Freeman mentioned in the post above me...

But then I realized that what they really need isn't to be redesigned into 2D games - it's to be redesigned to take more advantage of their 3D nature.  Which I guess zangetsu468 already mentioned as well.

Lest LOS 2 is really loathed by the Dungeoneers, the game that is truly in need of a rewrite is Judgement. I would kill to see a really well done CV fighter and 2D as a rule usually works better for fighting games. I would like to see any of the games be reworked, re-balanced and given a woman's touch figuratively speaking. TLC for the CTL. Since I am more a platfovania fan I would definitely enjoy LOI or COD redone in 2d. But I gots to have my platforming and hazards. Also, the Trevor Easter egg in COD should be given some extra goodies. As they stand right now I enjoyed LOS, LOI and COD very much. There was some really good stuff in LOS 2 as well but it could stand a reworking. If done in 2D I would support it as well as any of the others.

If I had to rank them for 2d remakes or for that matter simple 3D redux.
1 Judgement
2 Castlevania 64
3 Legacy of Darkness
4 3 way tie
 LOI
 LOS
 COD

Remember my name and know this. I have Suffolk Down Syndrome.

Stop me if you've heard this one.
A Belmont falls through a trap door into a square prison with no exits. After hitting three sides he smashes through the last one. Relieved and low on health he looks at the camera, smiles and says......"Pork chop?"
ULTIMATE FOURTH WALL BREAK!!! That just happened!!!
