yeah, I was dumbfounded when we got Richter/Maria instead of John/Eric.  but that was before we knew Dracula X Chronicles was coming out, so it makes perfect sense now.

I guess it was assumed that since you have to technically 'defeat' Ritcher in the main game, then playing through it with him should 'make sense'.  Though I think I would have rather played with Eric and John instead sense we did end up getting DXC later on.

Oh and apparently EGM already reviewed the game and gave it a 9 (or A-): they said the music is great as is the gameplay, however the puzzels are 'too hard' and the levels kinda feel 'copy/paste' like.  However, I looked on the website and it wasn't there and the person who originally never posted scans (says he has no scanner) but said RE5 was on the cover.

Gamespot has new pictures as well they uploaded today:
http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/castlevaniaorderofecclesia/images.html?sid=6198498

And yeah...I'm hoping by 'copy/paste' they don't mean "And once you get to the 11th level and it happens to be a 'forest', it's a recoloring of the first 'forest' you went to, with the rooms rearranged."  If the background is the same but the rooms are different, I can deal with that but another PoR portrait thing, and I might  :'( .

if it'll make the game longer, i'm all for reusing some level elements.  this seems to be the kind of game you want to spend some time in.

in por, i considered everything that came after the "bad ending" to be the "bonus" part of the game and didn't get the feeling that they got lazy at the end.  they could have inverted the castle like in SoTN or just put new enemies in old locations with new coloring scheme like in HoD, but they actually created totally new level structures.

There's already pictures of reused areas-there are pictures of an orange pallet swap of the mountains area in that IGN video.

There will most definately be two forests. That one old pic we seen of the world map with the good number of location icons on it show both a normal forest and a foggy forest.

I'm not thrilled for reused areas as long as they spice them up. For instance, you could have one forest area where the base idea could be overground exploration. The road woudl be a straight line, but there could be tree exploration. The other forest could have underground exploration, where the ground isn't AS leveled, and there are caves underneath trees, leading to other areas of the forest.

If you put down all the areas that we have seen so far from trailers and screens, they are 12 or 13 different areas. So how the heck is the game a copy paste? I don't get it!!

Areas we have seen:

1. Sea level

2. Forest level

3. Mountain level

4. Ice level

5. Skeleton Caves level

6. Dark Area With Lights level

7. Monastery level

8. Clock Tower

9. Swamp Forest level

10. A Area a la Haunted Castle level

And these two:

Ruler of Chaos

Yeah, but we don't know for sure that some of those screeshots aren't from the very same area. The "dark area with light" could be part of the "Skeleton cave", and the "ice level" could very well be an icy cave in the mountain level, or even and underground cavern in the depths of the ocean. Or maybe not.

From EGM:

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - A-
Good: Deep gameplay, spooky graphics and music
Bad: Confusing puzzles, cut-and-paste levels

Link:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337371

I think maybe 'cut-and-paste' may be more like this:
If your in the Monastary room A, then go to room B and C, once you enter room D, it looks just like room A. But as long as it's not recoloring like in PoR, I'm fine.

How can you know for sure that the skeleton creature in the dark area is actally a boss and not just a huuuuge enemy? Very large enemies are common in IGAvanias ya'know. Also, how can you know you sure that there cannot be two bosses in one area?

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying WHAT IF..!  :o
