I don't think it will.. Laura teases Gabriel about all his climbing/shimmying & how all those obstacles will be a cakewalk if he was "like her."

Soo...
But we'll play as another Belmont probably so I dunno

If the sequel still have that shimmying platforming its not going to be good anyway

The shimmying and plank walking are two things that EVERY reviewer and fan has complained about. I didn't mind it in theory, just didn't like how overly abused it was.  Seriously doubt that MS will make the same mistake next time around, especially since Cox seems to actually read and listen to what the fans says on this forum. Even if he stays true to his vision of CV, he can still adapt gameplay and level design to fix what was broken.

Plus, if Laura in Reverie actually does mention (still haven't f'ing played it yet!!) something about all the climbing and shimmying, that was probably Cox's way of letting us know that he got the point.

I wonder if there will be some kind of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow COMPLETE edition? The original game bundled with Reveri and Resurrection? Assassin's Creed 2 did that, also the latest GTA. Probably Fallout 3 and stuff too. Anyway, it would be kinda cool to have everything on one disc, maybe with new cover art. I'm not buying the DLC just yet.

Hope so. I cant get the DLC.

other news.

I didnt mind Wall shimiying/climbing with the whip and the tightrope walking.

The only place I can admit complaint is during the titan fights. otherwise, I was fine with it.

The only thing I disliked about "shyming" was that sometimes you could swing, sometimes you could jump and sometimes you couldn't, it bothers me when a game "directs you" in the right way forcefully.
I'm glad they gave the whip other uses and can't wait for what they'll come up next with for it

I dont understand how someone can stand this kind of "platforming", It's just horrible and isn't even real platforming. Everytime I re-play LOS I found it more anoying, and I only do that because the game have a "Castlevania" in the title. Honestly I don't like any platforming in this game. I always like platforms, but I find boring this "automatic style", I would love if the game have a style like Alice: Madness Returns game or something like some 3d mario game

I even prefer to not have platforming at all if they will contine the same thing they did with los

I respect your opinion but I simply don't find why is it bad, it's more realistic that conveniently placed edges to jump over, and as I said before, it makes the whip actually functional.

Well, a game shouldn't really strive for realism. Especially not when it has goblins, vampires, and magic anyway. I mean the magic thing is a total excuse to include those type of edges.
And well, LoS's platforming still consists of convenient edges and cliffs and etc to shimmy and grapple anyway. It would probably seem less so if there were, say, multiple paths in platforming, but it's usually a linear path for the player. I think the inherent problem is how slow it is, and the lack of control at certain parts like the swinging.

Although the platforming was an unpopular part of the game and not very CV-ish at all, I didn't mind it too much. At least it was more tolerable than Uncharted 2. By the halfway point of that game, whenever I'd come across a tall structure, I'd think "goddammit, but back there I just...RRRRRRRRGGGHHH"

The restrictive platforming controls, to me, took out a lot of trial-and-error when looking for hidden items. And given the length of the game, I didn't mind that too much, I guess. Might be the only one though.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Seriously! In that regard I'm glad LoS didn't take the cheap way out of a Clock Tower that LoI did, even if it was a little short.

I did love the platforming when it involved plain old running, jumping, and whip swinging, even the times when you would run back and forth across a wall while rappelling. But the wall shimmying is really slow and completely fucks up the pace of things; it should be used sparingly, and perhaps the whip climbing/swinging could be enhanced further in the sequel.

Anyone else notice that almost the exact same platforming (or rather, shimmying) style of gameplay in LoS was also used in Shadow of the Colossus? And not just while fighting the Collosi either. There were a several instances outside of Collossus fights that called for it, though to a much lesser extent than LoS.

You're absolutely correct.  While the platforming in LoS didn't really irritate the living f*** out of me until I played the DLC, it was still the pinnacle of a bad trend in the genre.  It's really an "on-rails" style of platforming.  Sidescrolling platformers force you to get your platforming just right, but 3D adventure games are becoming more and more restrictive in their platforming segments.  Either you can jump in this direction, or you can't go anywhere at all.  Or maybe you can shimmy across this ledge, or you can stay where you are, because there's nowhere else to go.  It's like your character does all this cool platforming stuff, but you're not doing a whole lot to control him, just a few simple buttons presses without any need for timing, aiming, or whatever.

To be fair though, it's more a problem with 3D platforming in general than with LoS.  Games like the original Tomb Raider series give you full control over your platforming movements, and they're frustrating as hell as a result.
