What about the teleporters in DoS?
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Also, the zombie soldiers in AoS had grenades.

THAT Castle, a supposed replica of Dracula's Castle, that Celia and her cult went and built (not the actual Dracula Castle even though the Silent Ruins resemble it) should have had more futuristic elements.  Either that or she was particularly meticulous about it not having any modern technology (but the Wizardry Lab shows otherwise).

I had read on the Wikipedia site about this particular castle. The info stated that is was built as a classic horror theme park to cater to the new generation about what was all the rage back in the day. When the profits didn't meet expectations it was closed down. Later on Celia's cult moved in and took over operations there. Whether or not this info is accurate I honestly don't know.

Personally I think the furistic setting in LoS is stupid because only 1000 years before medieval Europe looked like a fantasy world and now everybody is driving around in metropols. At least in all other games the magic and monsters stuff was implied to be more behind-the-scenes.

I would say that too if people criticised my favorite game and I couldn't say anything meaningful back.  :(

What I don't get, is what happened between then and now.

I just think people assumed it would have more series staples in the game, and when it didn't, their expectations were kind of shattered. I remember people being concerned with not seeing more traditional enemies before the game was released, but I think there was also an assumption that the game would ultimately fit right in with the series (not canon-wise, but thematically). And I think it just let people down when they finally got to play it. That's my guess.

I had a lot of fun with the game, and really liked what MS did overall, but I'm still undecided how CV-ish I thought it was. But then again, I'm not really sure if I care that much how it fits with the CV name if MS is only making a few games. I'm just so damn curious to see how Gabriel's story comes to a close at this point.

Also, I don't know if I ever mentioned it before (probably), but I wonder how much input Hideo Kojima had with the twist epilogue. Seemed more akin to Metal Gear than Castlevania to me.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Choppy frame rate, few music "hooks", repetitive narration, tedious titan battles, QTE, shimmying, locked borders, not Castlevania enough, fantasy elements, few old-school enemies, half-baked character references: there's something for anyone here to take in a launch of criticism at the game.

Not saying it’s not justified.  It’s a raw and crude beast of a game at times, borrows from many, but it has its own character, has its charm.  It really took the game a few chapters and light/shadow magic until it fully grew on me.  There are positives: the graphics, cinematics, the puzzles, some of the jumping platforming elements.  Whip-swinging was mostly on rails, but it still felt good.  In fact, it felt like you were controlling a Belmont again on his way to destiny (even if the plot was a bit strange / took a bit to get going).  Necromancer’s Abyss I thought had a great mix up of action and featured a fantastic new enemy character.

Cox and the team at MS will know where they can improve, if they can improve it'll have to be within budget and time constraints.

What gets me satisfied is that now they have more budget, more experience and more confidence (as shown in the DLC, platfforms are heavier and puzzles longer) and hopefully they are now more "in tune" with fans expectations.

The sequel will be a killer I count on it, the original game was a fresh start, they had NO TEMPLATE to work over, IGA hsa had the metroidvania formula for improving it (?) for 14 years, this guys had NOTHING, not even experience in creating "good games" (With exception of Blade:Edge of Darkness that was AWESOME -at the time-) and if time has showed us something is thatCV is not the easiest saga for adapting to 3D, they made the best imaginable work they could make in their first try with budget-experience-confidence-shorts, now it's time for them to shine.

I have total confidence in the team, they like to listen opinions, they are open, but they are ambitious, you could hear Enric Alvarez saying in every interview "We want to make the best game possible with our resources" and he said -even with some tweakes they would have liked to do- they did it, but that whichever project the studio is heading to (lol) it will be bigger and their goal is to make it much better, I like that mentality, they don't make half-assed attempts, they think in big, just what CV needed.

I believe in MercurySteam.

I don't think it will.. Laura teases Gabriel about all his climbing/shimmying & how all those obstacles will be a cakewalk if he was "like her."

Soo...
