He better have subweapons. If you look at him you can see all kinda smaller weapons hangin on him. Namely daggers and round things that look like they could be holy water

I noticed that too, but sometimes that's just character designers "accessorizing" the outfits they design.

Not like Tidus in FF10 had a practical use for all those damn chains hanging off him and outta his pockets.

But, it could be subweapons who knows.

I think that the "Lords of Shadow" are basically all the bosses in the game, which are mostly giants from what we've seen.

I would totally be turned off if the giants were the Lords of Shadow. Though, I kinda don't think that's the case. They just seem to be rather large bosses. I mean, the ogre's one. The giant werewolf's another. And that golem creature's another.

Besides, that one scene where Gabriel's on the mountain, and there's the clear shot of the massive castle(Castlevania?) with it's highest spires engulfed within the cloud vortex above it. THAT screams Dracula! I hope the focus will be vampires. No Ico-vania!

Yeah, I dislike the ogre too. They should turn it into Balore or something. Or hell, even a rotting giant zombie, like the fly-spewing boss in SotN.

the final boss is not gonna be Dracula, just like LOI.   :P

the mask explains it all.

Aria of Sorrow didn't have Dracula as a boss either, although he is 'in the game' so to speak. Dawn of Sorrow was similar except that Dracula does show up as a boss in the vampire killer mode.

Also if I get this straight this game takes place after the "End of Days"? As in the biblical armegeddon? That would place it chronologically after Dawn of Sorrow. The appearance of clothing and stuff would imply that the world has gone back to a Vampire Hunter D style post-apocaclyptic neo-medieval feudal system.

Either that or this game is the first of a completely new universe storyline (with zero ties to the previous Castlevania storylines and its gaidens), set in a Vampire Hunter D style world.

you're ignoring the possibility that the 'end of days' took place in the middle ages themselves and not the modern age~
-----------
If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

has everyone watched this?

http://g4tv.com/videos/38968/Konami-E3-2009-Press-Conference/

i love the way it looks and looks like it plays however...i thnk its effing bullshit if they think they can just start fresh and forget about the 20 some odd years of castlevanias ..somewhat developed timeline...im sure they can be just as creative without completely scraping the past...begs one to wonder what will end up being canon

The press release states "Mercury Steam has created a rich, open game world that traverses snowy mountain ranges, Gothic castles, and undead-strewn wastelands in a devastated Southern Europe during the Middle Ages. ", so yes, this game will take place in the Middle Ages.

C'mon, you think we're already at a position to cross off who and who won't be the final boss in this game? We barely know ANYTHING about the story other than the bare bones plot.

Sooo many pages in this thread, so excuse me if this has been brought up before, but could it be that the mask is in fact.... the MASK OF CARMILLA.  :o :o ..the one you fight in CV2 that is... That would be kinda cool. And probably very unlikely, too.

Yeah, Shel, that's been mentioned by a few others here. But again Kojima claims we should forget everything we know about the series... as we know it. Either that or he's saying at least forget about the other 3D Castlevanias.

We don't know what he means exactly.

Anyway, on getting my daily fix of the trailer today I can't get over how cool that scene is where the wolf is on top of him, mauling him, and he's pushing back against its jaw while trying to slide himself out of the way.

That's a very complex scene to do right, especially with the added physics of the wet ground from the rain, but it looks nearly flawless to me. It's amazing animation work.

I think we're in good hands from that standpoint.

Ahh ok the end of days in the Middle Ages eh? Ok, sounds intrigueing. Wonders if we get to stop it from happening, or its part of the plot that end of days successfully occurs. If the latter is so that would seem to imply that the game is the start of a brand new universe in the series (where nothing we think we know about Castlevania applies).
