People would kill for the money IGA is making, which isn't much but a whole lot more than most jobs out there.

As for your comments on how much a video game developer gets paid... I don't think its much more than any other trained position. Its probably considerably less than a doctor or lawyer. Its generally the company that gets the money, not the developer. I don't see it as a position that will get the developer any richer than average job. The same can be said for book authors as well.

Iga' has said;

GR: But you're in charge of the scenario writing for all the games, right?

KI: Actually I'm thinking of retiring with the storyboards. Maybe I will only review, not writing from scratch.

I'm sorry... I'm getting busier and busier. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting too old. I'm just waiting for my lottery winnings and then I can leave Konami.

This would seem to imply that he doesn't get paid all that much.

If thats the case, I think IGA deserves criticism for helping Konami to exploit the Castlevania fan base with a game they would otherwise have no interest in.

Gotta say, I tend to agree with this. He did come off as arrogant as heck. But then again, no one is really calling this David Cox's Castlevania, whether it's his or not, lol. I wonder just how much of a 'hand' Kojima is actually going to give to this game. I doubt he'd put his name all over it if it ends up sucking. Or at least, here's hoping.

It seems not even the PS2 games were total successes.

GR: The PS2 Castlevania games were good games. But perhaps trying to adhere to the SOTN elements may have held them back in some ways. Moving forward, there are many different things you could do that people would like.

KI: So future Castlevania titles, obviously we're talking about next generation Castlevania. The past PS2 title wasn't a total failure, actually.

As fans many of us tend to put on our Castlevania blinders on, which lets lets us be impressed or ignore certain negative aspects of games, despite the fact its considered only mediocre to good by the main stream market, when they compare it to other games that came out at the time.

Not saying that I didn't enjoy the games, I did. But there were definitely better games out. Just because we Castlevania fans considered them acceptable doesn't mean they were successful on the main stream. This probably has figured into reasons why Konami is trying out a new team as well.

I apologize for my ignorance and stupidity, but...pardon me for asking, "Ubisoft?" How so?

What if Lords of Shadows was ALL about becoming Dracula. Like.. from now on. Dracula as the hero. As a "good" guy or antihero. Eh?
Go. Set Forth! Both your own life and hers are at stake.

Of course he needs to prove himself to us. He doesn't enjoy fan approval simply by not being Koji Igarashi and the assholish statement he made didn't build any trust in my books. I hope he will succeed, but at the moment he's just a new kid in town.

I may be in the minority here, but I am glad they handed this game to another development team, rather than IGA.  His tenure as producer has been hit and miss, particularly his 3D games.  I don't know why he is so revered, to be honest.

Soo...

Does anyone else think that the mask could be the same one Dracula wears in the earlier games? Just speculation of course, but that may be a connection to those parts of the series, and an explanations as to WHY Dracula has a mask.

I've always believed that was Dracula wearing a mask. I'm not seriously the only one am I?
