At E3 if I recall correctly, Konami's president/CEO DID bother to mention Castlevania's 25th, but it was only briefly. I think it went something like "..Castlevania turns 25 this year, and also we have other stuff planned, etc."

Yeah, and the official Facebook page for Castlevania asked fans what they would like to see for the 25th anniversary a while back. It seems like it would be a real dick move to get fans excited about doing something to celebrate, and then just completely dropping the ball like that. :-\

LOL, yeah, I remember that. It was horribly lame of Konami to give a small, insignificant "heads up" only to brush away from the topic. Horrible PR department! The way they came off, it was like, "Oh yeah, I forgot. Castlevania's turning 25. And now, for some more IMPORTANT NEWS....."  ;D

Still, these things should be handled in advance. To the point where, at the very least, Konami, themselves, no Cox, would've come out ON the anniversary day itself and wish CV fans a "Happy 25th Anniversary!". They didn't even do that. LOL!

I'm wondering if this suggests that MS' take on Castlevania is the only one left now.

I thought Cox only wanted to do one Castlevania. I guess that could still mean that MercurySteam can do another one. Just someone else will be the producer.

I think people are reading a little too much into Cox's 25th anniversary tweet.

Actually, make that WAY too much. He could just be, you know, paying tribute to the guys? It's not unheard of.

He never said "one". He just said that he didnt want to be the new "Castlevania guy". He didnt want to make a long running thing.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

STRONGLY AGREE
a 3d Castlevania Game without Kojima attached would be Gold.

Kojima hardly did anything outside of the KP "stamp of approval" and some suggestions from him and his team. Wouldn't be much different.

Yep like the PURE Metal Gear Unlockables and soon to be "Complex" Story.

All Forms of entertainment have certain amounts of contribution from each area, anyone will tell you from any area of entertainment that Higher Budget = Less control to them and Higher control to the producers. In other words The higher the budget, the higher the producers have control.. unless the Director is in complete trust and even then the producers always have first say so.
This is a fundamental Law of Entertainment business.

Judging by the budget of Lord of Shadow, and how Cox is a newcomer to the Franchise, Its completely Natural that Most of the input Cox has to work with was from Konami's Proclaimed God Hideo Kojima. That, with a massive borrowing from movies and Metal Gear Unlockables, Its Painfully obvious that the Mastermind is Kojima Himself.

Dave Cox has been with the franchise since SotN (his name is in the credits). He's not new to the franchise at all, contrary to popular belief
