So..his original actual surname is Kurusu and it was localized into Cruz? That's news to me.

Kurusu is an actual Japanese surname and it's spelled in kanji in Japanese so I'm pretty sure it's just a pun on cross, not actually Cross or Cruz.

I don't really think race should be considered in regards to reincarnation since the whole point of reincarnation is that it's "unpredictable" and even inter-species. He's racially ambiguous in appearance anyway! Still took place in a European-style castle.

I guess I'm kinda fine with the reincarnation aspect since it's actually shown in Elisabetha and Lisa, and subtly with Mina. It's a fairly constant theme and ties in with time and repetition, which I think is a very major theme in Castlevania. The almost homogeneous set up of a Belmont versus Dracula throughout the centuries is a tangent to it.

Only because he is drawn in a specific style.
If he was drawn realistically he would have looked like typical asian guy with gray wig.

Fun fact about Stoker's Dracula: he is a descendant of asian people.

Kurusu is an actual Japanese surname and it's spelled in kanji in Japanese so I'm pretty sure it's just a pun on cross, not actually Cross or Cruz.

If it was intended as a pun it was definitely on the Spanish spelling of gross which, of course, is cruz. If it was a pun on cross it would have most likely been spelled in hiragana as kurosu or kuro-su.

I was certain Rinaldo would've appeared in the DLC...

I'm hoping he appears in the next game, but will he create a new whip, or a new "combat cross," and for whom will he create it? Someone should ask Cox on his Twitter (i don't have 1 nor intend to ever make 1)

Maybe the next game will have a sword-wielding hero instead?

Cox seems to prefer just letting people speculate on LOS he's very rarely answered questions of that nature with a clear response.

No, no news about the sequel, but something that makes me look at the ending even more differently.

Me: @CastlevaniaLOS I got it! The church Gabriel was hiding in used to be part of the castle, but constructions were made around it...maybe??

David Cox David Cox @CastlevaniaLOS
@gameshowvault Ahaaaaaa!!! :)

So it wasn't just any abandoned church...but what was left of Vampire Castle, only there were constructions made around it while Dracula was asleep for 100 years. Sorry, I was just too excited I had to share. If someone else had already figured this out and mentioned it, forgive me, I'm slow. :-P

That DOES make sense, considering his part of the church had demnic statues and shit, and that giant Dracula over the entrance up top. I mean logically, IRL it doesnt make much sense. but, this is videogame logic, so it makes perfect sense. they took a castle and turned it into a cathedral.

SOUNDS LEGIT.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

But surely the churchgoers & parishioners would've eventually smelled the stench of a rotting Slogra corpse for years now, despite the partition that seemingly separates the Demon Castle's Throne from a castle-church in Manhattan or possibly Tokyo

i've been inside this church before, btw. it's awesome & LoS' epilogue church is totally modeled after this one (interior-wise), without a doubt.

Man we know nothing about the LOS universe. Here's hoping it doesn't go trainwreck from now on.

Perhaps during the 100 year sleep, someone tore down the remains of the castle except for that part and build the church around it in the hope that a house of God would weaken the evil that is sleeping so that it will never wake again.

I know it's farfetched, but it certainly possible.  We still know so little about this timeline or how it will play out.  It could go either way.  We can't judge this timeline with just one game.  All we can do is wait to see what develops.  It's actually kind of exciting.
