That is my sig, actually. Just to be clear.

Also no, I'm referring to the vehemently anti-IGA 'ALL MUSCULAR BELMONT KILL DRACULA NO STORYLINE, 100 YEARS, EVERYTHING IGA HAS EVER DONE WAS A MISTAKE, HE DESTROYED THE SERIES' sort of bull. I've played plenty of Classicvania. CVIII and SCIV are among my favorites in the series.

But none of this is really relevant to the topic, so I'll stop talking now. I only responded to elaborate upon my point and hopefully clear up your misconception.

OMG please forgive me, I didn't realize that :o I'm really sorry, really.
And no, I'm not saying that IGa screwed up everything, I really appreciatte the artistic and graphical direction (with exception of POR) of the saga; the style and beauty that he gave to CV is always thanked; perhaps this LOS is closer to the caveman old Belmont, but, hey! they changed Gabriel's face and we haven't seen him yet!

Well, to be fair, Ahasverus, Julius in Aos was one of the most badass Belmonts ever, and he was in his *50s.* The only reason Soma beat him in AoS was because he held back, and even holding back when you fight him you see the castle crumbling in the background because of his power. And then in DoS, he gets through all the boss monsters without the seals because he can kill them all by himself! He is an awsum belmont  8)

God help this game if it doesn't feature Death one of the most staple bosses in this game's franchise history. He better carry a giant scythe and have random sickles appearing around the room with all sorts of demonic stuff happening in the background or something. Maybe a nice Slogra, and Gaibon summoning move too.

I will eat a house if Death isn't in this game.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks

Soundtrack, style, atmosphere, presentation of most of the environments that we've seen, replacement of the gothic-horror setting with what appears to be nothing but a ripoff of basic western fantasy, etc.

That is, with what we've seen thus far, anyway.

Funny, cause I'm definitely seeing a new Castlevania game in the trailer, no doubt about it. But yeah, some of the scenes and monsters are quite different from what we've seen in the past, but they still scream Castlevania to me. Also, not long ago people were complaining IGA always uses the same enemies for every game he ever makes. I think everyone was kinda pleased when he introduced new creatures in Order of Ecclesia. Now Lords of Shadow is taking this a step further. I still believe there will be ghosts, skeletons, werewolves, witches, zombies and bats in this one too. Also, the screens I've seen so far include plenty of gothic-looking environments. Just wait and see.

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

You just earned my respect with that post. I totally agree with you, painfull as it is, considering I am from Spain and really, really want to be proud of a Spanish team developing the game.

The "feel" is but a secondary reaction to the material in question, and objectively speaking - the consistent and defined style of Castlevania, which is universally responsible for whatever feel you may recieve from it, has been changed.

OK, but in what ways, specifically?

Listen kids, take a step back. Anything that is not just a speculation right now is premature. People saying LoS is "bad because of ____" will change their mind as quickly as a new photo is released, as long as it's "castlevania-ish". The fact is, it is too early to tell. So don't make up your mind just yet. Anything we see in these pictures are not representative of the entire game. So what, there are lots of daylight photos, maybe the game gets darker and creepier as it goes on. Not a problem. I would be stoked on introducing a little much needed cinematic storytelling to Castlevania.
Go. Set Forth! Both your own life and hers are at stake.

It's a combination of the music, atmospheres/environments, creatures, not just singular elements.

Well, so far the music is the only thing that feels un-Castlevania to me.  I think the environments have the right gothic look, and many of the creatures we have seen fit Castlevania very well.  And if the last scene of the trailer is an indication of the tone and atmosphere of the rest of the game, I think they are doing just fine with it so far.

And we only heard EXACTLY 1:02 minutes of music, so, we can't say that it's not Castlevania at all. I don't think that a soundtrack played by one of the best european orchestras (Bratislava) with 100 musicians could be bad; Perhaps not brillant, but it won't sound bad.

Oh, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it'll be bad; simply saying that it thus far, stylistically speaking, isn't very Castlevania. If you listen to the trailer them, and general Castlevania music you should be able to see that rather plainly.

Yes, if I had heard that without knowing it was Castlevania, castlevania was the last thing that I could imagine. But let's have faith, perhaps the full score will be gothic and creepy, or a least worthy.

But there's no evidence to base that faith on. S:

Not to say I don't hope it'll come out otherwise, I just don't see any reason to think it will so far.

Also, a little late, but;
