Other M is a really terrible game. I was looking forward to it but it ended up being the absolute worst Metroid ever.

it's gotten around 80% score based on 41 reviews, if I recall correctly other metroid games got more score than this one. but I don't know if it absolutely sucks....this just shows that taking a series like metroid...or Castlevania in a new direction could mean drastic change, which could be good, like FPS metroids or relatively bad like Other M, even though the latter was in my opinion closer to the original, it sucked to a lot of people, I hope Castlevania nails it this time.
FPS Castlevania anyone? hey it worked with metroid.

I played a 10-15 minutes of Legacy of Darkness...and...do people actually like this? or am I doing something wrong? cause the camera sucks ***.
I know it's too soon to judge but the gameplay so far is a catastrophe.
Edit : I don't see how this is more castlevania than LoI, I mean it plays like a horror game, like Resident Evil with melee, the difference I see is that you're required to fight the enemies instead of run away. then go find more keys and levers. to the next boss.

I am sorry to inform you, the game sucks. It only gets worse from there.

And many disagree, because you are wrong. :P
The game is different, but it's not bad.
BTW are you playing on an N64 or on an emulator?  Set your "D-Pad buttons" to your Right Analog and your camera problem will immediately go away.
If you're playing on an N64, congrats!  Clever use of the D-Pad will fix your camera issues.

Exactly. When I first got LoD for the N64, the camera was annoying the crap out of me until I figured out how to manipulate it with the D-pad. From then on, I really liked the game and I still play it sometimes to this day. LoD has great, spooky atmosphere and fantastic music.

According to the people who played it, it's the e3 demo. (Which is a bad move since the E3 demo is not that impressive)

It's gonna be Dead Space all over again, people will hate the demo, but the final product will be so much more.

Totally agree. It's different and has it's flaws, but is by no means a bad game.
My first thought when I played Other M was, "LoS will probably have a similar basic feel as this."
Hell, they could probably take the Other M engine and make a watered down version of LoS for Wii.
Minus the FP view stuff of course.

well I'm playing through an emulator, I still don't get the action view, battle view thing. I left it and got me the castlevania 64, even though almost nothing changed for the first stages, I mean hell even the HUD and start interface is the same, but IMO the whip is better than energy shot from wolfman. but I still gotta solve the camera issues, I'm just playing this because it's one of the few castlvanias I didn't touch, and I gotta say, now I completely understand Konami's decision to drastically change the gameplay in 3d...not everything works IMO, Lament of Innocence was tolerant, Curse of Darkness was mildly enjoyable but still something was missing, I hope Lords of Shadow nails it this time.

I've been starting to wonder if a FPS Castlevania could make it...I mean Metroid did it, it might be similiar to Bioshock in terms of gameplay except you use sub weapons instead of plasmids.

That'd be like the "Castlevania: The Arcade" title that came out in Japan.  It was an on-rails 'whipper' (not shooter).

CV64 is tough even on an emulator because there's no camera control, you just gotta cleverly switch between action and battle views.  LoD is more forgiving in that if you're in Action (or Battle I think) you can rotate and zoom the camera with the Dpad.

The HUD will be the same for both titles, but in LoD you will be able to upgrade your subweapons if you pick up another subweapon of the same type.  I don't remember being able to do this in CV64.
