There's no doubt the combat looks "iffy".  Arenas, what looks to be 20+ hits to fell some enemies (perhaps an exag.), 20-odd-minute titan kills, that grab move /circle, QTE, it's not entirely sitting well.

But I've played enough of your Lament of Innocence, Devil May Cry, God of War and Bayonetta to know it'd take something special—something extra-special—in the gameplay department to not be boring.  I'm hopeful (again!) that some enemies and bosses will bring nothing if a bit of a nostalgic feel to the combat, and that the backdrops and music make it all worthwile.
Oh I actually agree with all that. But I feel like the glamor of the backdrops will quickly diminish when you quick realize the geometry of them: basically circular or flat rooms. Who cares about beautiful scenery if you can't interact with it... until the game tells you you can for only a platforming sequence and not combat. The only instance I saw combining the two was when Gabriel climbed a fence to escape combat.

I love this trend of developers talking shit about QTEs, saying their games won't have them and then... they're there anyway. It happened with Splatterhouse too.

Oh well. Bayonetta had some too, and that was one of the finest games I've ever played, so...

Bayonetta didn't really have QTEs in battle though as far as I remember. Which made it more tolerable.

The grab circle is something I'm actually fine with. But the press a button thing ... meh. I mean, with the circle, it can be viewed like doing it at a good time to get him, or else he'll get you. So it's not bad...

Well apparently, the game already has two new reviews, over 90% (I think the reviewers are from the UK):

From what I've seen of the game so far, I don't think any review would be 'fair' calling it a GoW ripoff. It just seems to have way too much more going for it to be simplified as that. Maybe the gameplay is resembled to it, but not nearly as bad as Dante's Inferno was. Not to mention that I've heard quite a few people (after playing the demo) said it reminded them of LoI or even Ninja Gaiden. To each his own I guess. I can't wait to play the demo next week.

I thought both Ninja Gaiden and LoI had pretty great combat systems. It's pretty funny that both also shared the same flaw of horrible level design (LoI suffering more so in this regard). I think when they do compare it to GoW, they are specifically just referring to the way the Combat Cross works and the QTEs though. It's pretty blatant in that regard. Elsewhere, well, the game tries a bunch of other stuff. So I wouldn't call it a ripoff of GoW, because it's really a mesh of different games, incorporating a lot of different game design elements, principles, and ideas. If it works well remains to be seen.

I wrote something about that

My family is so castlevania freak. For example, my neice was born in 1994 and my youngest sister was born in 1992 ... Yada yada yada they happen to like Castlevania series and LOS seems to be their favorite one  ::)

Is it still not obvious ?

well actually a lot of people quickly assume that calling a game a clone is in someway berating the game, which even though I understand is not necessarily, I loved Dante's Inferno and I'd give it a 9.5/10 but at the same time I'd still call it a clone in a lot of ways.
as to Castlevania, I just finished the Demo and I gotta say...well the combat isn't the best thing I've seen so far..but it doesn't look too much like God of War IMO and at least I'm happy with that. I like games to be different.

that's exactly what I was thinking are there a lot of Japanese readers in these forums? and are they skilled to the point to be able recognize the text even though it's incredibly blurry? maybe I'll wait and find out!

Patrick Stewart also does the voice-acting for the head of the CIA in 'All American Dad'. I do find it interesting to have well-known and popular actors doing voice-overs for game characters. The one thing that will scor strikes for this game in my mind is the fact that some of IGA's characters are in the game  :P Personally I'd rather this game to be a hundred percent IGA untainted rather then feed his ego so he can damage the series some more. But if it's another team then they just might (very slim chance) be able to give IGA's character more 'life' then IGA himself was able to pull off. But I will still buy and play this game. That's a fact.

He was in Oblivion as well.....Stewart's got an awesome voice for this type of stuff.  After all, he spent several years onstage doing some of Shakespeare's greatest work.
