It WAS very similar, but I feel LoS did much better, especially in the whip combo department.

True though, it's orb system was very good, (and a good way to explain just what those orbs you get after beating a boss are) but thats really just IGA getting lucky IMO... Once again, look at CoD. He could have easily done just about anything else, another Belmont game, possibly sporting mechanics similar or better than LoI's, but no. instead we got Innocent Devils and an Alucard wannabe. :|

As much as I loved Isaac --that game was the biggest mistake IGA ever made.  IMO Curse of Darkness is the reason we got stuck with Lords of Shadow.  >:-(

I actually liked curse of darkness.

It was not better then Lament or the N64 titles but It was an alright game to play when you bored with nothing to do.

I would imagine the ONLY worth that game has is the ability to play as Trevor.

How DOES he play BTW? Like Leon I imagine. Only probably more buffed becase he doesnt have the Innocent Devil system to help him.

Considering the level design in LoI, I'm glad everything wasn't interconnected. I think the hub was nice, it complimented the more non-linear elements and secrets of the game. Though they were still hampered by the level design. I think the level design is the only real thing holding LoI back, and maybe that the enemy AI doesn't provide enough context for you to really explore the combat mechanics. Though the combat itself isn't that "Castlevania," it works very well in the game so I don't care about it not fitting. I'm not really sure how I would feel if there was more platforming in LoI. Its engine seems pretty awkward when dealing with it and the whipping off poles was just odd. For the most part, I would've just liked more environmental texture, slopes and walls and etc, not specifically platforming challenges.

Also, Trevor in CoD does not play like Leon at all. He's really just awkward and clunky like everything else in the game. Trevor's moveset is pretty different from Leon's too and operates more like Hector's which is just a stripped down version of Dynasty Warriors combat. So it's just uh.

Another thing that Hurts IGA is his over reliance on the castle.

Almost ALL IGAvanias take place Inside the castle, leaving very little room for creativity aside from the standard Castle Locations.

Creativity like say, Bloodlines had, which explored just about all over Europe. Or hell, even earlier Vanias, which did not ALWAYS start off inside the castle. Castlevania 3 comes to mind.

That's another thing LoS did. (and probably the thing that most people bitch about too) It doesnt start in the castle, but leads up to it. (Then people also bitch that the Castle isnt the main focus that that you leave it afterwards, but I consider it just another way of exploring what DoS did, which was going to hell.)

That's like saying "I love Star Wars. What's that, which movie is my favorite? Oh, I've never actually seen any of them."

Played the demo, though that doesn't exactly count. As well, I also watched the entire game on YouTube. :P

Remember, when IGA did have it take place outside the castle, CoD was born. ^.^

It 'sort of' felt like one to me... but not really.  Not nearly enough jumping and reaching spaces after climbing towers with stairs and pitfalls and such.  Coupled with too much 'room locks shut, defeat all enemies to proceed' nonsense.  That's not Castlevania to me.  That's... Final Fight.

Ditto. I actually through LoI a few times too, so I definitely played it enough to rate it. It does in fact feel more like a Cv Baldur's Gate. The room locks and the extreme similarity of the rooms were my biggest problem. even after my first two playthrough, I was still having to check the map every other minute. Iga absolutely blows at 3D level design.

I haven't followed this all the way.

So nothing this year? (Not even for the Anniversary?)

I don't care about LoS DLC..

Nothing that we know of, except for Harmony of Despair for PSN. It's still possible there might be something, but not likely

I'm on the hope that when the anniversary rolls around, we're gonna get an announcement of a game, from Konami, not Mercury Steam.

Hey, better than nothing, right?

http://nintendoeverything.com/67226/

This information comes from Yoshikazu Matsuhana (Google translated)…

“We would also like to see Metal Gear Solid 2 on 3DS. If the return fan is quite important, we believe. It is also the case for other franchises from Konami headlights. Maybe Castlevania.”

Hmm… Castlevania 3DS certainly interests me! I was really hoping Konami would announce something at this year’s E3. We saw three Castlevania DS games, so I’m hoping the 3DS will get some love as well.
