-Even though Castlevania 3 is my all time favorite game of the series, I've never beaten it. Once. Seriously, I can't get past the last stage. Damn medusa heads...

-Speaking of CV3: the music from that game is actually how I found the series again once I got older. My older brother used to play Castlevania 1- 3 when I was a lot younger, and I always remembered the songs 'Mad Forest' and 'Aquarius'. So once I got older, that's how I found the series again: I went through the trouble of buying the games until I fond the game those songs in it. I ended up playing and like the other (wrong) CV's so much, I got into the series as a whole. I wasn't tech savvy at the time and hadn't come to the dungeon yet.

-I didn't actually play (or know about) SOTN when it first came out, even though I had a Playstation. Once I did find out about it (years later), I couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't order it offline (at the time I was too young to buy it myself and my parents refused to put their credit card online to order it.) So I found a friend at school whom had a friend that wanted to watch Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (it had just come out at the time), which I owed. If I let her borrow it, she'd let me borrow her copy of SOTN and the strategy guide.

She then proceeded to move away with my movie, without even attempting to trade back with me.  I think I won that trade off though.

-When I used to be a manager at Gamestop and we got to go to conference, when Dracula X Chronicles, I got IGA to sign every single Castlevania game case I knew he created. I even got him to sign one of my DS's (don't ask). When I came back the year OoE came out, he actually remembered me and called me 'DS Girl'.  :P I still have all the pictures I took with him too.

That's awesome. I only have about 2 items that are signed by IGA. You should post pictures! :)

I share your pain but only to an extent. I've never beaten C3 either but my stumbling block was neither the final clock tower or the medusa heads but rather Dracula's second form. From the moving platforms, to the eye beams doing massive damage I just could never take him down.

My technique; Axe, triple shot, far left of the screen (where Drac's throne is) and hit him with the axe whenever there's an opening. Do not use the moving platforms unless you don't have the aforementioned arsenal. Same deal with Grant if you are using him. Alucard... let the Trevor tactic take over. Alucard's no dice unless you've had practice. Sypha and her lightning spell. It won't always hit Drac's vulnerable spot (his head), but with enough hearts under your belt you should kill him easily. That's my CV Confession for killing CV Dracula's final form.

This is a tactic that helped me tremendously: before the battle make sure you have an axe (which I know can be found somewhere in the stage) and a triple shot. This can easily be done by continuously walk up and down the stairs that leads to the castle keep and hit the candles there. When you reach Dracula's final form position yourself to the far right of the screen. Stay there and keep jumping and throwing the axes. The important part is that you pay close attention to the Dracula's hands because that's where the laser beams come from. When you see that a laser beam is about to form, quickly jump and drop down, which makes the beam fly over you. If you don't jump you'll get easily hit.

I hate the fact that Castlevania Circle of the Moon do not have Bestiary!!! Why the hell they dont put the enemy data after they are being defeated so I could check if they drop something or not. Or at least some nice info about the origin of the monsters :(

I know it is weird but this is bugging me!

Also why the hell there is not Enemy info in Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance ... the little nice text about the enemies. At least they did it perfect in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and the DS titles :)

For all IGA’s faults I think Aria of Sorrow really captures a high moment: [...] an understated soundtrack
I still love watching old Hammer horror films.
I think Jorge is one of the best moderators on t’internet.

I actually have Heart of Fire as my ringtone. There are times when I'm tempted to ignore the call to just listen to the song XD
Hammer's horror films are nice. I enjoy watching them. Who cares if they look slightly dated? You've got Peter Cushing and/or Christopher Lee.
And I whole-heartedly endorse your statement about Jorge! Despite being a mod he's very active with posting and he's very accessible. Most mods I've known only show up to drop the ban-hammer on someone and/or you're not "worth their time" to talk to.
12/1/12: Nominated for my 1st award! Thanks to all :D

Well no offense, but they must be pretty darn stealthy lol.

Brilliant tune mate.  There are top-drawer melodies in there, also the likes of Destined Cruz, Clock Tower and Top Floor but I think even the likes of Forgotten Garden and Underground Reservoir serve to enrich the game and help create bags of atmosphere.  Soshiro Hokkai’s work is significant too (e.g. Premonition, Purification).

Hammer's horror films are nice. I enjoy watching them. Who cares if they look slightly dated? You've got Peter Cushing and/or Christopher Lee.

I watched a lot of those old Dracula films as a youngster and they terrified me.  Now they do look a bit dated.  The stories and plots were never really anything to write home about but I think it was more about the play of the characters in those dark and lavish settings.  They really showed stark contrast between dark and evil and the good and innocent.

I think in Castlevania terms I can forgive a weak storyline if the other facets gel together and there’s some kind of ambience and entertainment value to be had playing the game.

I try to be fair and keep things civil without interfering too much.

You do very well.  And there's been a fair few conflicting opinions around here at the best of times!

I have never finished Castlevania Simon's Quest.

Then you need to play this mod! It fixes the translations enough to where you don't need a walkthrough, adds legit bosses, a save feature, and a custom Simon sprite made by our very own Jorge :D

Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest Revamped TSE is here (PC and Mac)

Man that fangame is getting more fan promotion...again! Good game for being fan-made but difficult in terms of only three men and no continues. A good CV II game to try out is The Almighty Guru's hack titled; Simon's Quest: Redaction. It fixes all the text. Everything is properly translated and you can easily know where to go next. Also the text is fast and the Day/Night sequences are also fast.
