Man that fangame is getting more fan promotion...again! Good game for being fan-made but difficult in terms of only three men and no continues. A good CV II game to try out is The Almighty Guru's hack titled; Simon's Quest: Redaction. It fixes all the text. Everything is properly translated and you can easily know where to go next. Also the text is fast and the Day/Night sequences are also fast.

Does it add real bosses or keep them the same way they are? SQR completely modifies the existing bosses or adds new ones.

I'm on Dracula on that Simon's Quest Revamped and that last level is kicking my trash. It's mostly the ghost before Dracula. Also yes it does have new bosses and the old ones from the original. I like SQ but I feel the revamped version is what the original should had been.

Yeah when I showed it to my brother he confessed he thought it was some Japanese SNES remake that never saw a Western release. And yeah those ghosts pissed me off SO much. I'd get to Drac but I'd be so exhausted from the ghosts.

No. The Bosses are left unchanged and there are no others that have been added. Simon's Quest: Redaction only addresses the issues of the slow day/night cycling, text crawling and the inability to make sense of the things people are saying. I've played it and I feel it's a more complete product then when Konami first released it.

I hate myself for not finding out about the akumajou dracula novel pertaining to the events after DoS until recently. And to add salt to the wound, I was in japan when it was released!

I feel SoTN is an amazing game dont get me wrong..But I feel since its the birth of the handhelds such as portrait of ruin and dawn of sorrow. IT killed any chance I had of A remake on the 3DS or DS.  :'(

Best you'll probably get is the PSP port they had.

When I was a kid, after first seeing a friend's older brother play the original Castlevania (of course he wouldn't let my play, not even once!), it was another year or three before my folks agreed to buy me a console for Xmas and I became so obsessed with the game that I'd spend my school holidays trying to make Castlevania board games for myself to play. They all sucked since I was only about 5-6 years old but it at least kept me sane (sort of).

I think Harmony of Dissonance is a great game, including the soundtrack.

It's usually considered one of if not the worst of the SotN-style games, and it gets a lot of flak for its terrible sound quality, even for GBA.

Though that doesn't necessarily translate to bad game or soundtrack.

Dissonance isn't viewed as a shitty game. True, it's typically held as the most meh of the GBA series, but that doesn't mean the game itself sucks.
What killed Diss for me was the graphics at the expense of the gameplay, the rip-off of SotN (from the similar graphical style, similar looking protagonists, the 2 nearly-identical castles bull-crap to the "buddy is possessed and I need to free him" thing), and the more-or-less lack of any real dialogue or plot once you start exploring the second castle. I almost felt like Diss would have been better without the whole (almost) mirror-image castle and just the first castle. It was neat when SotN did this stuff; it was redundant when Diss repeated the same exact stuff that had come before it.
And I don't get what was so bad about the sound. I saw it as an homage to the 8-bit era, the glory years of Castlevania's humble beginnings (and that of the NES itself).
