I think the grade school child heroes in all CV games are a bit silly and I always avoid playing as them. I also feel that these characters are a nod to the dark Japanese subcultures with the with the whole Lolita thing.

I'm also embarrassed to play certain CV games around some family and friends because of the awful dialogue or overall cheesiness. SoTN is the only exception, even though Richter voice actor can be hard to bear.

The game with the most deep and interesting storyline in the series is without a doubt Lords of Shadow. For once I actually feel like this was a CV game that was designed for adults. Put this game side to side with the Pokemon-esque DoS and ask yourself who was the target audience?

I'd be willing to sacrifice up to 5 CV games to take Resurrection's place. Mine are DoS, AoS, Judgement, CoTM and CV Chronicles.

I'm not a homophobe but Issac does make that difficult:p

Castlevania 4, I love it to death but it is overrated to a degree. Let's get over the whole whipping in eight directions bid and the undying love for the linear days.

Harmony of Despair is strangely addicting.

SoTN, is and always will be number one. Nuff' said.

This'll be short. I hate LoS. Everything about it from the music to the story is representative of THE 'EPIC HOLLYWOOD' trend in gaming that I detest. It's only appeal is it's advanced graphics, and I've never given a rat's ass about graphics.

I think Dave Cox full of shit half the time.

I think that as a producer Iga was more genuinely passionate about Castlevania than Cox.

I hate Iga's design philosophy.

-My second NES game was Dracula´s Curse... the first one was Super Mario Bros. 3 :P...
-My first SNES games were SCVIV and Dracula X...
-My first PS game was Alexi Lalas International Soccer :P... but then I bought SOTN :)...
-My second GB game was CV The Adventure... the first was Tiny Toons 2 ;)...
-I bought a Game Boy Advance just to play Circle of the Moon...
-My first DS game was Dawn of Sorrow...
-I bought Lament of Innocence weeks before I have a PS2...
-I bought DXC months before I own a PSP...
-...And finally, I prefer Darksiders to be my first XBox 360 game rather than LoS, am I wrong? (In fact, my first games were Disney Adventures and Kinect Adventures, but...) Maybe some day I will aquire LoS...

- Lords of Shadow sucks my shit and is not a Castlevania game.
- IGA did a lot of crap things but at least his productions still felt like Castlevania; this is weird to say, but I want him back.
- At age 13, I would play Castlevania 64 with Carrie's alternate costume and slide/duckcrawl under the small passageways to see her white cotton panties.
- On that note, to this day I feel that the N64 games were "the last great Castlevania games" and anyone who thinks they suck can suck my sump pump. Although ReBirth comes close to that level of greatness especially with its old school flavor, it's not one I play continually over and over. (Then again, I rarely play games anymore, but I don't even know that teenaged me would play it obsessively after first beating it.)
- I had the best website on the N64 games ever created. Probably 'cos it was the only such site.
- I honestly feel that Castlevania III is nowhere near as good as the first two on NES since it has so many boring passages. I've also never beat it.
- I find a lot of the obsessive Castlevania memorabilia collecting by users on this board to be very disturbing and a waste of time, money, and living space. Then again, I find that kind of collecting troubling in general; I have my own obsessive collecting in ways and I need to cut it out and sell a bunch of things.
- Related to that, fanfics are frightening even if they're not hinting at or reveling in pornographic outcomes.
- Though as a young teen I did yank it to that Elizabeth Bartley lesbo porno fiction by Andrew Modeen.
- I'm ashamed to admit that but it's a fact of life.
- Castlevania Legends is awesome so eat my tits if you disagree.

And I suppose I could go on but I'll end it there.

Ya know Abnormal, I was skeptical when I read the LoS hate, but then laughed and enjoyed the rest. +1 for the amusing post.  ;)

-I think LoS is the best 3D Castlevania thus far. I also like the story.

-I feel like SotN is highly overrated. Most of the people I talk to in real life think it's the greatest Castlevania ever, but haven't played any of the games that came after it.  :-\

-I like Castlevania Judgement. It's a fun little fighting game, with good gameplay and cool remixes. Those character designs are terrible though (mostly).

-Lately I find myself greatly enjoying what was previously my least favorite Castlevania; The Adventure. The sequel is still better though. Christopher moves like a slug, but the stages work around that, making it a fair but difficult challenge. I keep verbally telling him to walk faster though.

-The new MoF Simon is my favorite look for him. His look greatly resembles the NES sprite from the first Castlevania.

-I think the story in the Sorrow games is incredibly stupid, moreso in the second one. That said, I love playing them.

-The only thing I don't like about Harmony of Dissonance is that castles A and B don't have different soundtracks, or at least different versions of the same songs. Otherwise, I love that game.

-I like Lords of Shadow

-I was tired of IGA in Castlevania

-I consider most fun Castlevania Bloodline in relation to Castlevnia IV, although admit that it`s better overall game

-I don´t like the scheme Castlevania-Metroid.

This thread ran its course back on Page 1, as it's just complaints.
There are no true confessions here.

A true confession would be something like "Although I always say on this forum that I hate LoS, the reality is, I play it from time to time so I'm probably full of it when I talk against it here".
But no one's gonna confess things like that.

The closest to a confession is the perverted things Abnormal Freak is saying... which are tiptoeing that threshold of stuff you can talk about here.

I was gonna come up with actual confessions beyond that (my not-incredibly-strong liking for CV III and never beating it is one such example), but the first post asked for unpopular opinions/rants and that, so I was confused and went mostly for the latter. It wasn't a confessions thread like the title said but a "be a jerk" thread.

And to that end:

- LOS likers are jerkholes.
- IGA wears dresses but is still kinda cool.

Here are a few actual confessions from me:

-Although I have watched entire playthroughs of the games, I have never finished Lament of Innocence or Curse of Darkness, so although I do not like those games, it's mostly because I cannot muster the fortitude to play through them, more than them being (in my opinion) not very good games.  The same is true for Final Fantasy VII.  I also own all of these games, which makes the thing weirder.  And by 'own', I mean 'have a burnt disc of'.... though I actually bought FF7.

-I have never finished Haunted Castle (Arcade) or Vampire Killer (MSX).

-I am eagerly awaiting a hacked version of Castlevania Judgment, since I actually like the gameplay.  Keep Carmilla and Sypha the same though; just give 'em alternate costumes from the series.  If the Smash Brawl modders can do it, it should be the same for CVJudgment.
