Shipping =/= selling.

Every sales number refelcts shipped units, the publisher NEVER knows how many units retailers sell, some of them report them, some not.
And Konami has already earned its money then so it doesn't care.
And hey, this is supposed to be GOOD news don't you think?

The best? no way, but it's the best selling and that's something for us to be relieved, sequels are incoming and Konami will (hopefully) once again have some respect to the saga, and my God, it will have it when it adds some zeros to its financial earnings.
The more it sells, the better.

Good news, the game deserved to sell well. If Mercurysteam get's a go at the sequel and fix all the problems that the first game had, it would  be a sure fire hit.

Excellent, I'm hoping the sequel is much better though. There are issues I still have with the way LoS handled things, but I'm glad Konami may finally have another blockbuster franchise next to Metal Gear Solid.

Stop it, just stop it now, 1million shipped means 1million sold BY KONAMI and that's all that matters, it doesn't matter if only 1 of that million gets sold by retailers, Konami earned more than $60000000 (yeah, count those zeroes) and that's enough for making them happy, a lot, for a company that relies on 2 franchises, it's good news.
Don't try to make this to seem lesser than what it is, it's a great achievement after all.

They shipped copies. Whoopdeedoo, so does everyone.

At the very least, it means that retailers paid for copies.  Whether those copies sell or end up at bargain bins is at that point irrelevant, isn't it?  They're still copies that were purchased by retailers from Konami for the intent of sale.  That means... sales (at least in Konami's eyes).

I suppose we'd have to wait for retailer sales figures, but then anyone can comment on the (in)accuracy of those as well.

And it is a million.  It's a good number.  It's certainly not "20,000" or something.
