I was obviously being sarcastic, Metroid Prime is one of my favorites game of the past gen, that's the reason why I say that Retro Studios could make an awesome game, its logic. How can I say that I like retro Studios by saying THAT? You guys are so clever..

I was thinking last night I want a true horror Castlevania. Not PG horror. Not PG-13 horror. Not final-bonus-boss-is-OMGWTF-this-gets-an-M-rating horror. The series has zombies, so let's have some zombie horror! And hell hounds. And demons. And other creepy things. ... I might regret saying this... I might get a lot of hateful replies for saying this... But maybe let Capcom in on it? Yeah... As much as I hate the survival horror genre, Castlevania needs a survival horror platformer. Konami had issues with well-designed 3D Castlevanias, so bring Capcom's designers in to help Konami's programmers. It may be the one survival horror I'd be willing to play. (I did play Resident Evil long ago, but made the mistake of playing it on a 60" TV in the middle of the night with all the lights turned off while parents were in bed.)

Konami has issues with 3D Vanias but Capcom has a hell of issues with horror games ( I haven't seen one since Code VEeonica). I would prefer give the license to some ex-members of the Silent Team, some of them pretty much are at still at Konami

Yeah, I'll give you that. Hoo boy. Though Remake (RE1 remake) was fucking phenomenal, and in terms of sheer terror I don't think they've topped it. RE4 was a great action game with some amazing atmosphere (some of which I felt in LoS), and RE5 is... just an action game. So much potential in the Africa setting, down the tubes in favor of less fun copies of RE4 areas. RE5 was better with graphics, co-op, and... that's about it. Here's hoping the upcoming 3DS one is actually scary for once; at least they're aiming that way this time instead of just Gears of War Non Strafing Edition.

I think most of the important Team Silent members have long since left Konami though. Masahiro Ito has since worked for EA (I think?) and does artwork independently. Akira Yamaoka defected to Grasshopper and is scoring the upcoming Shadows of the Damned (which looks simultaneously disturbing and hilarious in a Grindhouse sort of way). But they've scattered since SH3, which is a crying shame considering how genius those games were. Now Silent Hill is doomed to a life of being outsourced to random companies I imagine are picked at random by Chewy, the Konami HQ's pet emperor scorpion.

I'd mention Capcom's similar obsession with completely nonsensical outsourcing, but that would be another huge can of worms I'd rather not open again (DmC). But I do wholly endorse the idea of taking Castlevania in a much more horror-oriented direction, as long as it's not to the point of survival horror.

From what I've heard, the new RE is just a full release of the Mercenaries sidegame. But yeah, RE5 was such a letdown. No improvements except for co-op (scratch that, I hear it sucked if you played with a CPU partner), and the last half hour or so jumped the shark so friggin' hard. I wish Shinji Mikami stayed around.

But as far as someone like Capcom getting the CV series, I honestly wouldn't mind. Maybe you'd hear about a DLC release in plenty of time.  :-X Also, Capcom seems to have more interests in its classics. But mostly because I couldn't see them dropping the ball as much as Konami has lately.

It's not a unpopular oppinion, there are a lot of people who shares it too. I just didn't like the transition, just like some people didn't like Sonic/Mario transitions to 3D.

Yeah, I don't like Metroid Prime either.  The story is good, but the first person point of view just doesn't work with the series.  The mostly first person view in Metroid Other M, on the other hand, seemed to work better in terms of the series.  Then again, I prefer third person view over first person.  The thing I don't like about first person view is that enemies can sneak up behind you and kill you before you can react.  That can't really happen with the third person view.  Castlevania should never be in first person view.  It just wouldn't work unless your primary weapon was a gun.  And let's face it, in Castlevania, guns are kind of weak and using on in a castlevania game is just blasphemy.  Castlevania combat is all about hand-to-hand combat and magic.  You can't very well do that with first person view, especially the way the Belmonts wield the whip in the 3D games.

Can you imagine Akira Yamaoka scoring a Castlevania game? That would be perfection.

You know, for me Metroid Prime is one of the best transitions to 3D that a game can have, it really feels like metroid, and gameplay mecanics are very similar, with a great level desing and very good exploration. In my opinon it represents very well how metroid should be in 3D, but I respect your opinion.
Mario and Zelda also have a great transition to 3D. Sonic adventure was cool but for it's just completely different to the 2D games, so I don't like that much.

If you don't like the metroid transition to 3D, I don't wanna know what you think of LOS :P

I liked LoS.  It's a great fantasy/adventure game.  The combat system works well with the exception of QTEs and the titan battles.  It's just that it didn't really seem like a CV to me.

It IS still in the minority though. the majority of the Metroid fanbase in fact, are now bitching about Other M, and how Prime was "sooo much better."

I think the original Prime was really something truly unique. It brought Metroid to 3D perfectly- as well as it's atmosphere. loneliness.

2 messed that up with the annoying dual world gameplay, and 3.. while fun to play, rather killed the atmosphere that made 1 and 2 so unique.

Yamaoka is credited for "rhythm arrange" on two tracks, Dracula's Castle and The Tragic Prince. As in, he programmed the drums. Yamane still gets full credit for composing all the songs except two that are remixes from Rondo, and I am the Wind which is by Rika Muranaka and crew. All you can really find to argue otherwise is an ambiguous recollection by Yamaoka himself -- "I helped compose" -- but you can't really tell how far-reaching the implication of something that vague is.
