Not really. He was still determined enough to cook up a scheme and to eventually Hannibal Lecture Leon. He was determined to become what he is, even if his motivation was deeply emotional. And he is more angry than sad in LoI, so I don't think that's really emo. But I digress. I'm talking about what he became after Lisa died.
Given what Mathias wanted to do, his actions come more as elaborated  childish temper tantrum rather than something really serious. As is his decision to declare war on humanity.

Sure, Gabriel may or may not be a bad guy, but is he ever going to give a crap about shattering a wine glass before a duel and being an overall magnificent bastard?
All this stylish flair does nothing to me.

I recall that one big castle that seemed as if they put all their effort into, and therefore were left with little inspiration for the Necromancers abyss, instead making it just a weird brown dusty void.

EDIT: With Portal puzzles.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Only to turn around and forget it happened two hours later. What a sham of a story.

Yeah, there's pretty much no way I can reconcile Gabriel becoming someone like Dracula.

Also drink every time an NPC character is killed.

The only real glimpse we had with Gabriel Dracula was when he launched a super sugoi power wave that split the Forgotten One in half. Guys, that's how you should see the Dracula of Lords. The one in the epilogue, he's totally a fake Dracula. Cox is leading us on like Matthias and Dracula in Castlevania. It was actually Vlad, and in Lords, it's going to be Vlad again. Except this time Vlad is a moper. It's kind of a reverse of old Castlevania. It's pretty brilliant.

No, I mean, the moper in the epilogue is still Dracula, but Gabriel is bad ass, okay, and Dracula too.

Don't know if they'll be able to make him more badass in the sequel, but he was more like a pathetic junkie in the LoS epilogue.

Im more curious about what he did shortly after killing the forgotton one and returing to Earth more than what drove him to hide for a century.

I picture Gabriel appearing before the villagers of Wygol and telling them, as hammy as possible "Your God has abandoned you, he will never answer your prayers! I am your only salvation, I am your new god now! Kneel before me or I shall destroy you!" Then one brave yet silly villager attempts to attack him and gets head chopped off and then Gabriel takes a pike and sticks the head on it as an example. Then the villagers quiver in fear and terror at the monster and wondered "What happened to Gods savior?"

I dunno if it will go down like this but at least it's better than just coming back and then hide in a church for a millenium.

i think they should've never given Gabriel the Belmont or Cronqvist surnames in his bio, this is how it should've went down; we're introduced to him & we simply assume he's a Belmont since he fits the mold. As the game progresses, we gradually start to see his dark nature, that something's not quite right with him so we begin to question his lineage. The Dracula reveal at the end would've made a lot more sense this way, since the game never confirmed he had the Belmont name so, there would be no controversy. But instead, they decided to give us a Cronqvist/Belmont hybrid.. for, y'know, "shock appeal."

i also would've given Zobek a scythe when he transforms, & is revealed to be DeathLord of the Dead, and changed his background from a human-necromancer to the traditional GRIM REAPER that's looking for a new "King of the Underworld," like he's supposed to be. It would've mirrored the Zead/Death reveal scene from CoD, & us fans would've enjoyed & appreciated it moar. Why the hell did they have to fuck this up too?

also, i'm the only one on this forum that has a Gabriel Belmont action figure & a combat cross replica :o

Lord of the Necromencers Zobek is not exactly Human... I'd probably go as far as say hes undead himself. but much like Carmilla and Cornell are not Human. Not anymore anyway.

I chose other because from what I've read on this forum, it's all of the above for the most part.  It's just so radically different from any other game in the series that it doesn't feel like a CV game.  That is the real reason.  Many people agree that if it was a stand alone series separate from CV, it would have been received a lot better and wouldn't be hated so much.  However, because it  is called Castlevania and is so different, it seems to be considered blasphemy by many CV fans.  And, to a certain extent, I understand where they are coming from.  I, too, don't really consider it a CV regardless of its title.

On the other hand, instead of being hated so much, we could always say that LoS takes place in an alternate universe.  That was IGA's explanation for where CotM, Cv64, and LoD fit in on the time line.  They don't because they take place in an alternate universe.  It may be a bit of a cop out, but it could also fill some plot holes.

Thats what I do, to me LoS takes place in a alternate continuity and It does it's own in in the Castlevania universe without affecting the main canon. However, some fans fear that LoS is the permenant direction that Konami want's Castlevania to go, and are willing to throw out all the history in the process in favor of the "reboot".

Add to the fact that everyone at Konami ignored to even acknowlege the 25th anniversary(except Cox) and LoS 2 is all but confirmed for 2012 and we haven't heard a thing about IGA or the fate of the original timeline, it's a really depressing time to be a harcore fan of Castlevania right about now.
