I see what you're saying, but given the similarity of appearance, the comparison is unavoidable. Gabriel spinning his flame whip around like a madman looks damn close to Kratos whipping around his fire-blade-chain-things. That's why it immediately occurred to me, and I imagine you're going to hear a lot of that from here on out.
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

GoW didn't even invent stylish combat. DMC did.

It's the combination of "stylish combo" and indeterminably long flame whip that does it, and the fact that this resembles GoW more then DMC. So really, who invented the 'stylish combo' gameplay is irrelevant to its relation to God of War~

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

In all seriousness, I was wondering that the last time I watched the trailer. In some of Gabrielle's whip combos the whip glows orange as though aflame, while in others, particularly that last insanely fast spinning one, it looks more blue, like a whip powered by wind.

You are very correct on that one sir,
but im afraid that in the trailer
the flame whip is popular.

Since the chain whip or combat cross is the main weapon in the game (So far it seems that way) and given that it does show that insanely fast blue colored whip I think its safe to say there will be more then just fire to use. I hope that they go more in depth with it. I would like to pull a sub zero and freeze a monster solid and then bust it in to a tiny million blood splattering pieces.

I laugh at the people bashing this game.

The amount of improvement this title shows over anything IGA has done is insane.

Every friggen IGA game has repetitive areas, each room looking the same. A different team handling this eases my worries of that.

Flat areas? Your complaining about that? This trailer alone looks more exciting than previous 3d entries, and im sure it will have more interesting areas anyways.

Voice acting, and story will prolly be better.

As will everything else.

THANK GOD.

1.Trevor mode doesn't count. It's unlockable after beating the game and is not part of the story/canon.
Whether it's a part of the story or canon or not is irrelevant, you factually said 'no playing as trevor' and I pointed out Trevor mode, where you do, in fact, play as Trevor. I factually proved you wrong and that was the entire point. It doesn't matter what you meant, because that isn't what you said.

Quote
2.You can't just assume what happened to the other characters. Why even make it a direct sequel if you're going to add new characters yet not include the previous characters.
My "assumptions" are based on what occured in their lives at later dates as dictated by other canon media. Alucard felt guilty for his patricide and simultaneously wished to cleanse the world of his cursed bloodline, thus submerged himself in what was intended to be an eternal sleep.

I don't see why you find it so hard to believe that more things happened then we witnessed. CVIII, in-game, was incredibly shallow as far as story is concerned. Simultaneously, CoD and the manga created story that centered around that timeframe yet did not interfere in the already existing canon.

Quote
3.Why is there no need to see St. Germain again? Dracula was resurrected many times after CoD. Where was he then?
That was his first resurrection and Death was directly involved in manipulating the course of events that would lead to it. It was Death's involvement that lead to Germain attempting to interfere - I shouldn't have to repeat that. Once it was proven that even if Death directly interfered in this course of events (which, if I recall correctly, he never did again) that it would in the end be ultimately futile and Dracula's defeat was inevitable, Germain saw no reason to interfere anymore. If we do see him again, it'll likely be in 1999.

Quote
4.You can throw around all of your pseudo facts all you want. If memory serves, no where in the game did it say that Dracula was weaker than his usual self.
If Dracula was going to resurrect the same regardless, why would Death bother to even try and use Hector's more powerful body in the resurrection process? Why didn't he just try and use Isaac's in the first place? Because Dracula would be resurrected using that body as a base and a stronger body would have allowed for a stronger resurrect. That was the entire point of a majority of the game's struggles. Someone didn't pay attention when they were playing~

Quote
Either way, I still don't feel that anybody should be able to defeat Dracula with any weapon other than the Vampire Killer, including Dominus.
Get over yourself. It doesn't matter what you think; it's canon and that's that, there's no point contesting it - especially seeing as it's been a part of the canon since 1994.

Concerning the whip, you'll also note Gabriel seems to have it turn into a hammer at one point while jumping in for a death blow.

Either the cross-whip can transform somehow, or he can carry other weapons too.

Interesting either way.

Nah that hammer broke when it hit his head.

That's cuz he forgot to:

- Get the hatching egg from the stable girl
- Wake up the sleeping man near the castle
- Give the chicken back to stable girl
- Take her special blue chicken to her sleeping brother
- Take his gift of the mushroom back to the witch, quickly!
- Take her potion mix back to the brother
- Find the brother is missing but pick up his saw from the random girl
- Take the saw to his father
- Take his letter to the ginormous blacksmith on the mountain
- Hand over the broken hammer
- Wait a day

.... if he would have done those things he wouldn't have to worry about it breaking.
