I never said that. I played CVIII prior to playing CoD.

And I was already aware of main storylines, I simply never cared enough about Grant to actually use him in the US release (after the first 'Wow this character is useless*' response) or read up on his ending. With the exception of Judgment, I've never particularly cared about him either way.

Except for the fact that it was the exact same reason provided in CVIII, so by all means it shouldn't matter where it comes from because it's a part of the overall Castlevania storyline. An explanation was already provided both pre- and post- CoD, there was no need to reiterate it within the title.
I know why you're pissed about Curse of Darkness, however the simple fact of the matter is that I disagree with your opinion. I still played CVIII before CoD (as mentioned above) but that made no difference.

I don't own the game nor any means to play it at this point in time. I've revisited it on many different occasions however a lack of consistent experience and medium has brought about mixed results; and I would've beaten the game on one occasion, had my friend not decided that he wanted to play something now and kicked me off on my third run of the last level (trying out different methods). Albeit it was his game and console, so he had every right~

I don't own the game now and my computer is currently a shitfest, with just about every one of its systems failing in some regard, to the point where if i even attempt to open anything game related or watch anything full-screen my computer will seize up and force me to hard-reboot it, so emulators are out of the question.

"Course since you didn't play through it at the time of its release

They're both great games, however the style is completely different - you honestly can't compare them so easily. I love them both but for very different reasons. Storyline wise, I prefer Curse of Darkness's take; but then, CVIII doesn't actually have much of a storyline on it's own, so that's kind of a given.

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

Your opinion is noted. But since CoD had the technology to bring that game's story to more to life and it failed to do that as a sequel.

I agree you can't really compare CV III and CoD. From different worlds (different teams), different eras and completely different gameplay.

But I too felt CoD on it's very own did not do a good job of telling a story and it wasted too many opportunities using its characters correctly, not to mention tying it better to one of the most beloved Castlevania titles ever.

The biggest fault is its level design though. And that's something I CAN compare the two games on. Dracula's Curse's levels were carefully planned, structurally enticing and just a lot more fun to experience than CoD's mostly flat, mostly repetitive, mostly uninspired batch of egregiously long stage layouts. Garibaldi Temple was a beauty though.

Even LoI had a better grasp of when was a good time to end a level and it also gave you the freedom to choose which one to tackle and when, and in that way it can probably be better compared to CV3 than CoD can actually. If just a little bit more.

LOVE CoD's soundtrack tho. Also the ID-raising and weapon building was fun... just too bad the most interesting stuff is unlocked too late. By then I just lost interest. I would say CoD had lots of good gameplay ideas, but, yet again, they were executed poorly in the end.

And IMO Dracula's Curse far, far outshines CoD when simply basing it off which one is funner.

Now since CoD is out of the way hopefully we can get back on topic and back to Goth of War. Oh wait we shouldn't call that cause we only have evidence of one level that looks "goth" so I guess we can't call it that nor should we call it that since the only gameplay we have is a Gabriel using a flame whip. What I meant was Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

You know, maybe this game was intended to be a Castlevania game all along.

The medieval armor, the flame whip, the kneeling in front of an iconic cross, the tragic plot...

This team obviously has some Castlevania fans on board. (And let's hope Kojima's one of them.)

Now let's see whether it's too late to turn their tribute fantasy game around and make it a bonafide Akumjou Dracula experience.

I haven't been this excited for the series since the first vids of Lament of Innocence were released. But since we all know that game didn't quite live up to our anticipations of it then (neither did CoD compared to its vids), I remain excited, but cautiously optimistic as well.

That cautious excitement has a bigger silver lining this time though, what with a brand new team, director and direction driving this "rebirth" of the series in 3D.

Not to mention a brand new console class where's there's absolutely no excuses for box-room levels and zero platforming.

Oh yeah, and did I mention PATRICK FREAKING STEWART? :D

Yeah same here I haven't been this hyped over a castlevania game in a long ass time.

There are fears about how this team will handle so only time will tell if they can make this a true Castlevania

Hi guys,

Have you seen the newest trailer of this game ?

Take a close look at the this gif I made.

Who are they ? enemies or friends ? and If they happen to be friends, are they villagers or summoned creatures ? and if they happen to be summoned creaures, what kind of a creature that holds a Scythe ?

Well, it could be a villager who decides to help Gabrial ( expecting CO-OP mode in this game ? ). However, if this thing is evolving all the time, I say maybe Gabrial will turn into a vampire and this creature will be Death. Good twist if you ask me.

This game has got me excited already.

One more thing, if they happen to be enemies, their AI is the worst thing I've ever seen.

Regards,

Hi, cool GIF.

It's anyone's guess, but I personally think they're just part of the "baddies" roster. I could see them being villagers somehow too, but I get the feeling they aren't friendly either way.

On the other hand, it almost looks like his whip isn't affecting them. So maybe there's more to this.

But yeah, the AI better be better than this before the game ships.

Uh..the word "of" is hardly evidence. It was a CV clone/spiritual successor from the start, but obviously Konami did the same trick they pulled with MGSPO and SH4.

Beides, "of" was the "thing" of the games produced by that Japanese guy who's been producing CV for a decade. Can't remember his name anymore because he surely must have been fired for this spectatular piece we know jack shit about.
