http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2010/09/23/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-medusa-head/  Medusa head equivalent?  Huh, I'm interested to see what those things will look like.

Uh yea... . for like 2 seconds.

I guess I was just trying to get at the fact that when the game is epic...in terms of title, size, soundtrack, or feel, he has an awesome and commanding voice.

I like this.

I like this a lot. I was getting some itty bitty chills from the demo.

Latest Dave Cox interview

Some tidbits I thought were interesting,
Quote
We knew we wanted to tell a story and do it in a way that was believable, in an emotional way. We knew that at the beginning that we wanted to have high-caliber voice actors to do the roles. Originally, we wanted Gerard Butler to be Gabriel, but he was very busy at the time so he couldn't do it. So someone suggested Robert Carlyle, and we approached Robert about the role and sent him the script.

We weren't sure whether he was going to go for it or not, but he was keen to get involved. He loved the script. He really enjoyed the story. He saw what we were trying to do, and it interested him as an actor. He never did a video game before, so that's another thing he wanted to do. All the actors were like that, even Patrick [Stewart] was quite difficult to nail down. We knew we wanted to do Patrick, we wanted someone of his caliber. We got the script to him, he read the script, and got back to us and said he's interested, and here we are.

Quote
We weren't going to try to fit into the time line in any shape or form. We were going to do our own thing, kind of like "Marvel Ultimates" -- outside of existing canon; something that stands alone if need be. To be perfectly honest, we haven't really looked past this game for sequels or whatever. We just looked at this and just said, "We want to tell this story within our Castlevania world." If we do another one, I don't know. That's a decision higher up the food chain.

Medusa heads were in LoD and C64, but of course they sucked in both, they were annoying alright but in a way a guy would expect. I doubt we'll ever see them in this game, with this games engine and combat system I don't a Medusa head or flea man is gonna fit.

actually I'm glad I heard something like that, I was too worried Konami was trying to disown us fans for prettier orphans. as in focusing too much of their attention on newer blood. I do understand of course if they wanted to do that, no matter how much a fan may love the series he cannot get them millions, the other guys can. so...you try to meet their demands.

Cox said something in an Interview that the game was set in an alternate universe and completely out of the timeline so unfamiliars can "hop on". well I was wondering...since when does castlevania require anyone to have played the previous titles or know anything of the title? every game I played just explained everything again. so if this was a timeline game and for example...CV4 Simon in 3D instead of Gabriel wouldn't it still  have the same impact on people who never played the game?

Gerard Butler?  What could have been...a Scottish sounding Gabriel.  I'm tempted to reference 300 but I'll restrain myself.

Quote from: Cox regarding the demo
It's one of the issues we had, actually, at E3. You're constantly picking up skills. If you drop somebody into this game halfway through, they're just going to die all the time. It's a game that you need to play in order to enjoy it. That's why we did a more combat-oriented demo at E3, so people could pick up and play the game. If we dropped them in the Clock Tower stage, people would've said, "I've had enough of this." You need to learn how to play well. By the end of the game, most players have got all the skills -- they're sync blocking, they're using their light and shadow magic, they're dodging and rolling -- they're doing all the things we want them to do.

Ah, lol. That's actually awesome.

Also, I'm glad they couldn't get Butler for the role of Gabriel. People would be wisecracking left and right.

Well, if they have a NEW enemy that is LIKE the Medusa Head, they could've very well put the Medusa Heads in there. My guess is that they wanted something original(like many of the monsters in this game).

As of Medusa Heads in 3D, you could change the battle tactics just like most of the 3D enemies in all 3D CV games. I would've thought the perfect Medusa Head 3D design would be something like the Spirits from the 3D Iga-vanias, which kinda home in on your character.

Cox using Marvel's Ultimate universe as an example leads me to believe that the classic CV canon is NOT done yet, and that Cox's CV will exist as an alternate universe to the classic CV canon universe(kinda like how Mega Man's universe is different than Mega Man Legends universe, which is different than the Battle Network universe).

Gerard Butler?  What could have been...a Scottish sounding Gabriel.  I'm tempted to reference 300 but I'll restrain myself.
Robert Carlyle's Scottish too. What are you talking about?

I believe Legends in fact takes place in the same universe as classic MM/X/Zero/ZX, albeit THOUSANDS of years in the future. Only series that's really separate is Battle Network/Star Force.
